Trainer Laxman Singh leading Policy Maker (A M Tograllu Up), winner of The Nawab Mir Mushtaq Ali Khan Memorial Cup

Laxman Singh trained Policy Maker (Home Affairs-Admiration / Mebajeona Stud) completed a hat-trick in fine fashion in the Nawab Mir Mustaq Ali Khan Memorial Cup which featured the eight races card at Hyderabad on Sunday. The 5 year old bay colt who was being tried over a mile trip for the first time shared the favouritism with Aventus in a field of five runners. Ridden by A.M.Tograllu, Policy Maker raced a close last till tuning for home. Entering the home stretch Ploicy Maker made a swift move through the shortest way and streaking between Winds And Waves and Aventus made it successfully to the winning post. Aventus was second ahead of Golden Arrow and Winds And Waves.

Lips Locking (Sedgefield-Frequent Flyer) from trainer Sk Kassam’s yard pulled off a surprise win over the half money favourite Vijay Vidhata in the M.C.E.M.E. Rolling Trophy, division I. Vijay Vidhata had taken charge inside the last 300 metres and was looking good when Lips Locking, who was given few cracks right from the top of the straight to get to raise a gallop, did that and with a stunning acceleration flashed past Vijay Vidhata. Rosemonde and Jaden Gil filled the judge’s frame.

Pegasus (Chevalier-Over The Ocean) made every post a winning one over the 1100 metres dash in the Dinkydo Plate, for 3 years old maiden colts and geldings. Pegasus was well in front of The Blue as the came in for the final furlong and extended easily even as Delta Force made a late attempt to take the second place. Madiba and Give Me A Chance were non-starters in the race.

M.Sathyanarayana trained Atlas Star (Placerville-Seriously Stunning / A B Stud) who was on the race track for the first time turned out to be the biggest upset of the day in the Illustrious Reign Plate, paying a whopping Rs.532/- on a fiver. Humraaj set off on a start to finish bid over the 1100 metres dash and held forte till approaching the last 200 metres. The hot favourite Aston Doulton began to get stronger from the outside but just could not math strides with Atlas Star when the gelding started to gallop from the inside. Humraaj took the third spot.

D.Netto trained Stolen Date (Sussex-Hunting Girl) just about managed to scrape through in the higher division of the Artistic Tribute Plate. Jockey Louis Beuzelin did well to settle Stolen Date nicely along the fence in second as Military Cross cut the wind. Urged inside the last 300 metres Stolen Date surged ahead easily and broke away to open up by over two lengths. Classic Emerald began to come up with big strides inside the last 100 metres, diminishing the leeway at a rapid pace but the winning post came to the rescue of Stolen Date who had held on by a ‘head’. Amazing Power was third another length adrift, ahead of Military Cross.

While jockey P.S.Chouhan failed to deliver the required results in a couple of races, he piloted a back-to-back double through Vijays Triumph and Home Town Hero. L.V.R.Deshmukh trained Vijays Triumph (Glory of Dancer-Sonatina / Nanoli Stud) whose previous win was in the same calendar month last year, won the lower division of the M.C.E.M.E. Rolling Trophy with a widening margin. Racing a handy second till the top of the straight, Vijays Triumph took charge and drew away easily. Sunday Beauty, Blue Eyed Babe and Cannon Ten finished behind the winner in that order.

Home Town Hero (Rebuttal-Angarika) from trainer K.S.V.Prasad Raju’s stables who had not shown any worthwhile form for over a year was installed as the firm favourite in the lower division of the Artistic Tribute Plate. Regal Groom was out on a start to finish mission and the grey, Home Town Hero had to be ridden hard by Chouhan to pick up momentum in the final furlong and once he did, flashed past the leader easily.

Anupam Sharma’s Khalis Gold (Sharp Attack-Chivas Gold) won the Storm Trooper Plate by a big margin. The 6 year old chestnut colt hit the front as they were despatched for the mile trip, led the pack all the way into the final straight and stretched out effortlessly to win by a runaway lead of 8 lengths. Well Wisher and Typhoon finished second and third respectively.
