BURATINO SLAMS THE COVENTRY STAKES

Mark Johnston trained Buratino power his way to a superb win in the G2 Coventry Stakes on day-1 at Royal Ascot. The son of Exceed and Excel sporting the Godolphin colours for the first time was at 6-1 for the renewal. Buratino was not the smartest at start but soon recovered well to track the leaders. Jockey William Buick on his first season as a retained rider for the Godolphin started to move up Buratino and the youngster galloped with a flourish to take lead inside the final furlong and stayed comfortably ahead by two lengths at the wire from Air Force Blue. Eltezam was third another 2 lengths away.
"He's come on for every run and travelled so well," said William Buick of the Mark Johnston-trained colt. "It's huge to get a winner here so early on and I'm very pleased to get it for my boss and the team. He's the most exciting two-year-old who's around at the moment."
