By Racing Correspondent | 28 Jun 2015 |

John Gosden trained Jack Hobs trounced the field to clinch the 150th running of the G1 Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at Curragh. Sent off as the favourite at 10-11, Jack Hobs became the first British trained contender to win the Derby since 1993.

Jockey William Buick had Jack Hobs prominently in third while Storm The Stars set the pace followed by Giovanni Canaletto. Buick got him to make a move between the pair as they turned for home and the son of Halling shot ahead with a sparkling gallop to go clear by five lengths. Storm The Stars finished second while Giovanni Conaletto ended up third another 5 1/2 lengths adrift.

"He was fantastic and is a great horse," said William Buick. "I had a lot of belief in him before Epsom and he was even better today. He's improving all the time and it's fantastic to win an Irish Derby - it's also great to ride horses like him.”
