Trainer Md Sajid Qureshi leading Capri (A Ramu Up), winner of The H.R.C.Trophy

Md Sajid Qureshi trained Capri (Ace-Yutai / Poona Stud) galloped resolutely to down the opposition in the H.R.C.Trophy, a 1200 metres sprint for horses rated 60 and above. Jockey A Ramu settled Capri nicely in mid-field while Majestic Queen called the shots. Inside the last 400 metres Divine Love was the first to take the initiative and surged past Majestic Queen. Ramu started to alert his mount of the task and the 6 year old mare responded with a good turn of foot and was sighted a winner well before the winning post. Bandito bridged the gap to finish second, a length away while Miss International finished on to take the third spot.

Vishal Yadav schooled grey filly Ruthba (Verglas-Wavetree Girl / Hazara Stud) is shaping to be a classy type at this centre. She looked a picture in the paddock and was backed to the hilt. She scored a second successive win beating her rivals by over a street. The manner in which the filly decimated her rivals in the home stretch was astonishing and looks to be a cinch when saddled next. Skyjet took a lengthy lead and was about seven lengths as the field turned for home. Ruthba shot ahead even as the leader started to falter away and stretched out with the rider not having to work for it. For the record Sancy, Hallelujah and Al Attaturk filled the judge’s frame in that order. Amazing was withdrawn on veterinary grounds earlier in the day.

Vishal Yadav sent out another winner through Dare The Don (Varenar-Balance De Power / Equus Stud) in the concluding race of the day, the Anekal Plate. Racing in about fifth or sixth till the top of the straight, Dare The Don looked for room between horses and forged ahead with a furlong from home. Saturday Affair veered out under pressure but came on strongly when corrected but Dare The Don was safely home by a neck by then. Come on Gingin and Happiness finished third and fourth respectively.

Dark William (New Famous-Temple Quest / Yeravada Stud) from trainer Zareer Darashah’s yard which had failed as a favourite in its previous two starts came good under Y.S.Srinath to win the Bugle Rock Plate. Into the final straight Teri Adah had broken away to a three lengths lead. Dark William tracking the leader into the stretch came up with a resolute gallop to flash past Teri Adah and scored an authoritative win with Born For Beauty rallying hard to finish second. Teri Adah ended up third. Al Dahma was withdrawn on veterinary grounds earlier in the day.

S.Somashekar trained Badshah (Rock of Gibraltar-Soul Sister / Manjri Stud) who was winless from 15 starts opened his account in an impressive fashion in the Doddaballapura plate, the opener of the day. After a rather lethargic start Badshah began to improve around the field. Cesaria and Sharp Girl were being ridden out to assume supremacy nearing the distance post when Badshah came with a flourish and drew clear. Cesaria finished second with Sharp Girl ending up third.

Dinesh Pujar trained Nuala (Brave Act-Royal Assault / Bred privately by Dr.H Mirza) whose last win was over a year and a half ago won the Itarsi Plate easily. Racing handily with Daring Don and Act of Glory till turning for home, Nuala grabbed the lead quickly and opened up a long leeway on the straight. New Sunrise was the only one who looked to be threat in the last furlong, bridging the gap but a feeble attempt by its rider enabled Nuala to cross the winning post one length ahead. Tandav finished in the money many lengths away. Zamindar was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.
