Trainer B K Narendra leading Daylite (Arshad Alam Up), winner of The Star Supreme Trophy

Manjri Stud bred Daylite (Phoenix Tower-Nightlife) lifted the Start Supreme Trophy, the feature of Tuesday’s races at Mysore. The daughter of Phoenix Tower who was disqualified in her previous start after unsaddling in the winner’s enclosure was given a perfect ride this time by young Arshad Alam who made every post a winning one in smart timing. Ruthba who remained the firm favourite despite the price drifting out ran four away from the fence till the top of the straight in mid-field and made her bid from the wide outside.

Jockey Arshad Alam hogged the limelight, booting home four winners. This is probably his best performance on a single race day so far and now assigned to don the ‘Manjri’ colours, more such results are bound to come in. Dyna, Artiste and Aristomache were his other three winners.

C.V.G.K.Kishore trained Aristomache (Glory of Dancer-Kilshannig / Nanoli Stud) which had gone down to Bucethalis in its previous outing turned the tables under Arshad Alam in the higher division of the Diabolical Plate. Aanchal Beauty led from the start and Bucethalis along with Bourbon Street started to get stronger with a furlong left from home. Arshad found a gap between horses and guided Aristomache towards the opening and the 5 year old got to a brilliant gallop to emerge victorious by 1 ¼ lengths. Bucethalis managed to nose out Aanchal Beauty for the second place while Bourbon Street ended up fourth another Nose adrift.

Dyna (Mr Mellon-Banaadir / Ruia Stud) which had shifted from Western India recently into trainer J Saravanan’s stables here won the lower division in an impressive fashion. Speedy Amigo from the outermost draw was the quickest to jump out and rushed to lead the pack. Approaching the last 200 metres Speedy Amigo was still in front but was no match when Dyna came with a flourish from behind under Arshad Alam. Zagato ended up third in front of Starstruck.

Another western India import, Artiste (Excellent Art-Otelcaliforni / Manjri Stud) won impressively in the Tapathi Plate. The daughter of Excellent Art shot to the lead at start and made every post a winning one with jockey Arshad Alam nursing the filly to a nicety with just his hands and heels. Sazae San rallied on to be the runner up while Beautiful Effect took the third spot in front of the favourite Jamais Vu. Kallistrate was withdrawn near the starting gates on veterinary grounds.

Vikram Appachu trained Carisa (Home Affairs-Blues Clues / Country Stud) won the Girinagara Plate, a 1200 metres sprint for horses rated 60 and above. The well backed favourite Secret Hunter was on a start to finish charge with Divine Love in chase on the straight. Carisa being ridden out by M Rajesh Kumar sported a pair of wings in the last 100 metres to down the favoured Secret Hunter in the shadow of the winning post. Divine love stayed in third with Protector of Paris filling the board.

S Santosh Rao trained Fantasy Living (Senure-Abide proven / Yeravada Stud) winless from 19 starts came good in a small field of seven horses in the Sea Bisquit Plate, the opener of the day. Small Cruise set off on a start to finish bid and Ophira headed past inside the last 300 metres. Fantasy Living gained ground from the outside and swept past to earn its maiden win by two lengths. Small Cruise who finished third lodged an objection against the runner-up Ophira and the order was reversed after the Stewards upheld the objection.
