Col.S.B.Nair & Trainer M Srinivas Reddy leading Dare To Dream (Dashrath Singh Up), winner of The Nizams Gold Cup (Gr.2)

M Srinivas Reddy trained Dare To Dream (Oath-Starynessey / Pratap Stud), owned by Col. S B Nair was given a perfect ride by Dashrath Singh to lift the prestigious Nizams Gold Cup – Gr.2 at Malakpet, Hyderabad. The 4 year old bay gelding who was the runner-up in the Golconda Derby behind Quasar was the popular choice to win the ten furlongs race among the nine runners, sent off at 16-10. Azzurro led the field initially but was soon headed by Sovereign Rule. Dare To Dream improved nicely from an outward draw to track the leader.

The pace setter Sovereign Rule packed up approaching the 600 metres board and Dare To Dream went ahead to bring the field into view on the home stretch. Dare To Dream was still travelling well with a furlong left and Azzurrro began to throw a serious challenge with Suraj Narredu using the stick freely. Azzurro was inching closer with every stride but a confident Dashrath Singh just used his hands and heels to keep Dare To Dream ahead by quarter of a length at the wire. Arrogant Approach was third nearly six lengths away and Booker Jones filled the judge’s frame another length adrift.

Trainer Srinivas Reddy had a rewarding day with a treble having saddled Chal Dhannu Chal and Lethal King earlier, both piloted by Imran Chisty. Lethal King (Kingada Ka-Lethals Lady) won the seven furlongs race for maiden 3 year old horses, the Chaitanya Chakram Cup. Racing a handy fourth close to the fence till turning for home, Lethal King made a quick move from the outside of joint favourite Found Money who was on a start to finish bid and covered ground despite shifting out under pressure to forge ahead by two lengths. Limitation and Beau Sabreur finished third and fourth respectively.

Chal Dhannu Chal (Rebuttal-Czai / Hazara Stud) won the Khammam Plate in a thrilling finish. Oathofyourdaughter, Kalinda and Kimono were battling it out inside the last 150 metres and Chisty was getting busy on Chal Dhannu Chal from the outside. The filly took some time to pick up momentum but once she did, galloped with a flourish to snatch the race by a head. Kalinda finished second with Oathofyourdaughter a short-head behind. Kimono finished fourth.

K.S.V.Prasad Raju’s Midnight In Paris (Multidimensional-Da Vinci Rose) showed plenty of speed to win the higher division of the Army Trophy Cup. Handily placed behind the favourite Rock Heights till the last 200 metres, Midnight In Paris got stronger and sped past to wrap it up. Prince Of Arabia rallied on to take the second place from Rock Heights.

Laxman Singh trained Vijays Grandeour (Ace-Pride / Greenfield Stud) lifted the lower division. Racing in mid-field till entering the straight, Vijays Grandeour improved places through the field and shot to the lead. Jockey D K Ashish kept Vijays Grandeour going even as Kohinoor Thunder closed up towards the closing stages and held on by a head at the finish. Military Cross and Coral Springs finished third and fourth respectively.

Laxman Singh had started the day with 10-1 shot Ivanova (Equitable-Glare) upsetting in the P R Khade Memorial Cup. The money back favourite Advocate General set off by a clear lead followed by Lopamudra and Ivanova. Lopamudra was the first to challenge Advocate General from the top of the straight and the two were involved in a duel with the favourite getting out of steam. Ivanova began to charge ahead from the outside and flashed on to win it by three parts of a length. Lopamudra was second another three parts of a length in front of Advocate General.

S S Faisal Hassan trained Italian Cypress (Tariq-Passion) scored an encore in the division II of the Elusive Hero Cup. Racing in sixth position along the inner rails till the last 400 metres, Italian Cypress was pulled out by jockey Akshay Kumar and the 4 year old gelding raised a fluent gallop to overhaul the front runners easily. Dancing Farha rallied on to beat Beauty Flash for the second place.

Trainer K.S.V.Prasad Raju earned his double for the day through Golden Flash (Black Cash-Slide By) in the Donegal Plate, the concluding race of the day. Racing fourth till the last 300 metres Golden Flash rallied strongly under Nilesh Rawal and surged ahead to pull it off. Cloud Dancer, Nano Dame and Chocolate Greedy filled the judge’s frame in that order.
