Baazigar set the tempo from the start and led the pack of six into the final straight. The short priced favourite Vijays Joy improved gradually to be on the haunches of the leader turning for home and surged ahead to take it up on the straight. Blossom travelling about three away from the fence all along made a strong bid inside the last 300 metres and after an intense tussle with the favourite, prevailed over it by quarter of a length at the finish. Golden Arrow and Baazigar finished third and fourth respectively.

Jockey Trevor Patel made his presence felt at Malakpet while driving home R H Sequeira trained Matica (Mull of Kintyre-Ramatni / AB Stud) to a maiden win in the division I of the Sweeping Success Cup. Matica tracked Golden Angel from the start and went ahead to the lead on top of the straight. The on-money favourite Karromshade racing in third moved to challenge Matica after Trevor had taken a lead of over two lengths inside the last 200 metres. Karromshade closed up the gap towards the closing stages but fell short by a slender margin at the finish with jockey Vivek on it definitely not at his best. Tricky Star was third another 2 ¼ lengths away. Lady of the Turf was withdrawn before the start.

S S Faisal Hassan’s Legacy Machine (Arazan-Risada) won its debut start in the lower division. Jockey Akshay Kumar took the gelding to the front quickly at start and led all the way. City of Destiny was in close attendance till the last 300 metres and packed off. Golden Desire warmed up late to get closer but Legacy Machine was safely home despite veering out towards closing stages. The Blue and City of Destiny finished third and fourth respectively.

The gelding was guided to hit the front early in the race and King of Pop gave company till entering the home stretch, Morning Miracle showed a clean pair of heels to the rest of the field and stretched out comfortably. Rock Baby Rock rallied on to take the second spot ahead of Great Warrior. King of Pop finished fourth.

Laxman Singh trained Vijays Grandeour (Ace-Pride / Greenfield Stud) who has found the lost form this monsoon, scored an encore in the Red Satin Plate. Favourably drawn in one, Vijays Grandeour was the quickest at start and led them right from the word ‘go’. The race favourite Midnight In Paris was ridden hard to catch up but Vijays Grandeour kicked on by a length. Noble Citizen came in fast towards the closing stages to beat Coral Springs for the third place. Marquise was a non-starter in the race.

Delta Force (Win Legend-Celestial Star) from trainer K Satheesh’s stables was confidently ridden by B Dileep to earn its second win of the season in the Goa Plate. Bharat King after enjoying a lead of over three lengths began to fizzle out on entering the straight. Delta Force which had moved steadily to be in second readily took charge and strode clear. The favourite Princess Hina could only manage to beat the rest for the second place. South Lake and My Choice finished third and fourth respectively. Island Bird was withdrawn before the race.

L.D’Silva trained Par Excellence (Saffron Walden-Louve Secret / Doaba Stud) completed a hat-trick in the higher division of the Star Haven Cup. Kintyre Princess was third another length away.

Zoheb Shaikh trained Olympic Gold (Mathematecian-Centralito / Sans Craintes Stud) whose only win from 14 starts was exactly two years ago galloped resolutely to win the lower division of the Star Haven Cup. Chasing the leader Amazing Weapon into the final straight, Olympic Gold surged ahead readily and stepped up the pace to draw clear. True Friend, Goldie and Classic Emerald filled the judge’s frame in that order. The favourite Ein Ein Ein was left with no reserves when asked to speed up on top of the straight and finished a tame fifth.

Ananta Vatsalya trained Nano Class (Top Class-Pomme De Terre) who was winless from 19 starts finally came good to win the Red Rufus Plate with a measure of comfort. Sluggish at start, Nano Class raced with the rear bunch initially and improved gradually to be in mid-field as they showed up on the straight. Junior was on a start to finish bid and Nano Class weaved through the horses in front, quickened nicely and drew away from the rest. Junior thwarted Kohinoor Charm’s bid to stay in second.
