Trainer SS Attaollahi leading Sea Fairey (P Trevor Up), winner of The Hotel R R R Trophy

Suleiman Attaollahi trained Sea Fairey (Multidimensional-Sea Princess / Usha Stud) sporting the silks of Dr. & Mrs. Vijay Mallya representing United Racing and Bloodstock Breeders Limited completed a hat-trick in the Hotel R.R.R.Trophy, the main event of Thursday’s races at Mysore. The Multidimensional filly displayed a touch of class while treating the rest of the field with disdain to win her third successive victory from as many starts.

Sea Fairey shot to the front as the field was despatched for the seven furlongs trip and continued to bowl along merrily in the lead as they turned for home with Magnitude and New World the closest challengers. Still a length in front, jockey Trevor Patel just waved the whip from the left and Sea Fairey quickened with awesome acceleration and the rest of them were left with absolutely no chance. Frenemee covered ground towards the closing stages to get the second spot ahead of New World. Bold Police started to improve from the outside under strong riding and made it to the judge’s frame.

Western India import Dhanyavaad (Black Cash-Si Gentille / Equus Stud) who had won a sprint at Pune before moving into trainer C. Girinath’s yard won the Chettinad Stud Trophy. The top weighted Miyarprincess set off on a start to finish bid and Dhanyavaad was ready to strike on its haunches as they turned for home. Dhanyavaad surged ahead readily to get to the lead and Color Me along with Rule Forever came up with a challenge. Color Me dropped out of the fight soon but Rule Forever kept up the fight till the end to be the runner-up, three quarters of a length behind Dhanyavaad on whom jockey B. Mahesh kept riding out despite the saddle shifting back alarmingly. Color Me was third.

Suleiman and Trevor had earlier in the day teamed up to get their first win on Hunhar (Kingda Ka-Hekayaat / Broadacres Stud) in the Karapur Plate. Hunhar was sent in as on-money favourite for the mile race and the 3 year old gelding justified the strong support to score its maiden win. Leading from the word ‘go’, Hunhar was challenged by Classic King but Trevor’s urgings made the youngster gallop faster and stretched clear. Fotogenic came from behind to beat the rest while Classic King ended up third.

Kishan Thomas trained Cool Springs (Burden Of Proof-Cool Jazz / Kunigal Stud) made a mockery of racing system in the Barachukki Plate, the opener of the day. Not anywhere close to the judge’s frame in its several attempts for over a year now, 4 year old filly was given a good touch to land up as the favourite for the seven furlongs trip. Cool Springs was taken to the front quickly at start. On entering the home straight Jump In The Red came charging from the outside and surged clear. Cool Springs who looked beaten at that stage was pulled out and with a re-run the filly regained the lead to pull it off. Candice came in late to finish second ahead of Jump In The Red and Spiritual Act. For Your Eyes Only was withdrawn on veterinary grounds near the gates.

Another maiden contender to come out successful after being backed down to favouritism was V. Narayana Gowda trained Hand Of Fury (Ace-Bering South / Exhiliration Stud) in the Belur Plate. Bon Fire and Ole disputed the lead from the start and were fighting to stay ahead as the came into the last 400 metres. Hand Of Fury was gradually pulled out to make a bid from the outside and the filly responded readily to go for it when shown the daylight. Bonfire was a bit erratic under pressure and almost banged into Ole but the rider got her into control and the filly fought out with Hand Of Fury till the post and lost out by half a length. Mr.Big Shot finished third another five lengths away.

Trainer S.Dominic pulled another ace from the stable through Aceempressjessie (Rebuttal-Empress Jessie / Hazara Stud) in the Triveni Plate. Sent off at 6- 1, Aceempressjessie was with the back bunch initially and improved gradually to be in mid-field. Approaching the distance post Young Gallant, Ephialties and Attractive Bay were almost in a line with the last named looking the best from the outside. Aceempressjessie rallied strongly through the front runners and with a big gallop grabbed the lead and went clear to be two lengths ahead at the finish. Attractive Bay held on to the second place from a fast finishing Musical Treasure.

Jockey B. Mahesh rode his double through P.C. Tejaswi trained Zagato (Kheleyf-Better Off Red / Broadacres Stud) in the Mandya Plate. The concluding race of the day. Charging ahead to challenge Its My Party approaching the last 300 metres, Zagato took over readily and won warding off. Samson beat Its My Party for the second place.
