TREVOR GETS MANDARIN TO KEEP THE TOPSPOT

Aravind Ganapathy trained Mandarin (Multidimensional-Margarita / Usha Stud) was given a brilliant ride by Trevor to lift the Urs Kar Trophy, the feature of Tuesday’s races at Mysore. Unlike in its last run where Mandarin had to encounter traffic snarls, Trevor kept the gelding nicely alongside Goldberg who showed plenty of early speed to hit the front. On entering the straight Mandarin charged ahead to grab the lead and Goldberg was already under pressure. Topspot began to make a bid from the outside and came menacingly from the outside but Trevor with a determined effort had Mandarin safely in front by a neck at the finish. Goldberg who was looking to remain unbeaten with its fourth straight win found its match and ended up third. 

Arjun Mangalorkar schooled Powerscourt (Admiralofthefleet-Cesandri / Kunigal Stud) displayed a touch of brilliance while debuting in the Sanctity Trophy. The filly was held back in thir while Ramon and Western Dream fought for the lead in front. As they straightened up for the final run, Trevor was quick to get Powerscourt to the lead with Ramon still fighting on the inside. Skyfullofstars began to move up from the outside but was shifting out under pressure. Powerscourt went clear to be 3 ¼ lengths ahead at the finish while Ramon managed to be the runner-up, beating Skyfullofstars by a neck.

The Lieutenant (Phoenix Tower-Sunshiner / Manjri Stud) from trainer Neil Darashah’s stables made every post a winning one in the W.T. Craig-Jones Memorial Trophy, division I. Suraj Narredu very quickly got the gelding to the fence to lead as the gates opened and brought the field into view on the straight. The Lieutenant kept kicking on gamely with no serious challenge emerging from behind and won by a good three lengths. Blazing Touch was the beast of the beaten brigade. Sharp Witted finished in the money ahead of All In.

V. Narayana Gowda trained Helios (Danehill Star-Viva Candy / Chhatari Stud), a maiden going into the division I of the www.Racingpulse.in Website Trophy was installed as the overwhelming favourite at ‘half money’.  The 4 year old gelding was the smartest out of the gates and shot ahead to lead by almost four lengths. On entering the home stretch jockey Suraj Narredu just niggled Helios and he picked up pace effortlessly to extend the lead to six lengths. Indian Brahmos got the better of Able Master for the second place. Spiritofknowledge was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.  

Mahmood Khan trained Alvarez (Burden of Proof-Miss Highjinks / Kunigal Stud) sctored an impressive maiden win in the lower division. Racing handily in third or fourth, Alvarez improved gradually to track the leader Cullinan before approaching the final turn. Inside the last 400 metres the 3 year old gelding forged ahead effortlessly when the rider V.R. Jagadeesh asked for an effort and stretched out well. The favourite Saffron Intense who was struggling hard on the straight managed to get to the second place with Perfect King finishing third. Aqua Blessing was withdrawn on veterinary grounds near the starting gates.

Manjri Stud bred Sakchi (Phoenix Tower-Cine Star) pulled it off at nourishing odds in the lower division of the W.T.Craig-Jones Memorial Trophy. Handily placed in third till entering the straight while Dare The Don called the shots followed by Kentucky Rose, jockey Imran Khan made a quick move with Sakchi from the inside and was in the lead passing the last 300 metres. Humming Bird started to challenge strongly from the outside but Imran rode out Sakchi to be home safely by three parts of a length. Crown Emperor warmed up late to cover lot of ground from behind to finish third ahead of Southern Surprise.  

Vishal Yadav trained Daring Don (Eljohar-Back To Beauty /Dhana Stud) winless from a dozen starts came good to shed the maiden ranks in the Chirapunji Plate. Chasing Peppr who led the field till mid-way up the straight, Daring Don surged ahead easily and drew clear. Peppr stayed on in second while Everlasting Memory improved late to beat Charm And Dream for the third place.

C. Girinath trained Evalina (Phoenix Tower-Miss Takeortwo / Manjri Stud) managed to edge out the favourite Ace Force in the dying moments of the race in the Lalithamahal Plate. Bucethalis was the first to go for it on entering the straight and Ace Force was gaining ground from the outside. Inside the last 200 metres Ace Force surged ahead and was looking good. Evalina who travelled in seventh till the bend was pulled out for a clear run passing the distance post and with a big gallop swooped down to collar Ace Force by a neck in the shadow of the winning post. Bucethalis finished third ahead of Miyarprincess.
