HAPPY GUY WINS MYSORE RACE CLUB CUP

Trainer K Satheesh leading Happy Guy (N S Rathore Up), winner of The Mysore Race Club Cup

K. Satheesh trained Happy Guy (Slickly-Ladyfish) won the Mysore Race Club Cup, a seven furlongs race for horses in the highest category. The 4 year old bay colt that has been consistent was sent off as the favourite at 5-4 among the seven runners. Whats Up set the pace followed closely by Aventus. Happy Guy raced three away from the rails in third with Always Bullish giving company from the inside. The rest followed close by. On entering the straight Whats Up started to weaken and Happy Guy got stronger in the centre of the turf. Cornwallis made a strong bid from the outside and Aventus fought on bravely from the inside. The race still looked open with 150 metres left but Happy Guy beat them all by three parts of a length. Cornwallis got the better of Aventus by a short-head for the second place.

Trainer M. Sathyanarayana’s Atlas Star (Placerville-Seriously Stunning) scored an impressive encore in the Raja R J K Ranga Rao, Zamindar of Chikkavaram Memorial Cup under K. Sai Kiran. Atlas Star showed plenty of speed to rush to the rails from the outside draw to lead the pack. Kohinoor Grace joined quickly and tracked the leader till rounding for home but was out of steam soon. Atlas Star drew clear inside the last 400 metres and won unchallenged. Rosemonde rallied on late to pip Roma Royal for the second place.  

Trainer Sathyanarayana and jockey Sai Kiran pulled off a double through Island Bird (Varenar-Metalique) in the Loyal Prince Plate. Aakash Vani was in the lead right from the start and came into the straight about three lengths in front. The filly started to drift out and island Bird began to bridge the gap. Grabbing the lead with 100 metres left Island Bird surged clear while Amethyst and Bharat Princess finished second and third respectively. Aakash Vani ended up fourth.

Laxman Singh trained Meheran (C. P. West-Killarney) completed a hat-trick in the Candy Man Plate, the opener of the day. The race favourite Tiger took over the running from Nano Dame within the first two furlongs and led till turning for home. Meheran ran third followed by Jerrell and Ice Barrier. Jockey Kuldeep Singh started to work his way on Meheran and the gelding got closer and was in front past Tiger  passing the 400 metres marker on the straight. Meheran stretched out effortlessly to score by over four lengths and Tiger rallied on to be second. Gentle Chief was withdrawn before the race.

Jockey Trevor rode K.S.V.Prasad Raju’s Dublin (Admiralofthefleet-Captivating / Kunigal Stud) to a second successive win in the lower division of the Camino Cup. Shatakshi and beauty Flash were the early leaders and brought the field till the top of the straight. Dublin made ground between the two and was heading to take it up with a furlong left. Oathofyourdaughter covered ground at a fast pace from the outside and came tearing down but Dublin touched the winning first sparing a neck. True Pearl was third another length away.

Jockey Neeraj Rawal rode his solitary mount for the day, M.Srinivas Reddys Madiba (Varena-Najah / Equus Stud) to a maiden victory in the higher division of the Paradis Plate.  Madiba was held back in fourth early and Rawal showed some urgency to make his move passing the 800 metres when City Tex took a lead of over three lengths. On entering the straight Madiba took charge readily and staved off the challenge of Limitation towards the closing stages. Prudentlt Perfect finished third in front of Beau Sabreur.

L.D’Silva trained Bon Ton (Arazan-La Unique) who was winless from ten starts finally made it in the lower division. Tracking Miss A Kiss till turning for home Bon Ton forged ahead to take it up. The favourite White Gold challenged from the outside and Pour Vous tried from the inside. Bon Ton all the way held on strongly to the lead with apprentice riding out and won well from White Gold. Pour Vous was third. Zensational was withdrawn near the gates.

Trainer K.Satheesh and jockey N.S. Rahore had earlier in the day scored through Junior (Dancing Forever-Palladio / Hazara Stud) in the Top Most Plate. Junior, a maiden from 13 starts made every post a winning one over the seven furlongs trip. Fresco came under pressure when asked for an effort and the rider had to change his whip hand to put him on the straight course. Junior kicked on gamely and drew clear by over four lengths from Fresco. Sea Change finished third ahead of True Haven.
