Trainer L V R Deshmukh leading Vijay Vaishnavee (Ajit Singh Up), winner of The C Satyanarayana Memorial Cup

L.V.R.Deshmukh trained Vijay Vaishnavee (Yeats-Bright Hope) put in a sterling performance to lift the C. Sathyanarayana Memorial Cup, the feature of Monday’s races at Hyderabad. Not among the much favoured ones, Vijay Vaishnavee was sent off at juicy odds of 10-1. Prince Of Arabia set the tempo followed closely by Kohinoor Thunder and Power Planet. Machine Gun and Vijay Vaishnavee exchanged positions in fourth while the favourite Alameda raced sixth followed by Golden Arrow and Celestial Fire. On entering the home straight Power Planet was the first to grab the lead. Vijay Vaishnavee was quick to respond to jockey Ajit Singh’s urgings and galloped resolutely to take charge inside the last 300 metres and won easily. Golden Arrow, Alameda and Power Planet filled the frame in that order in a three way finish.

Jockey Trevor was in the forefront once again winning on all his three rides of the day. He rode M. Srinivas Reddy trained Chal Dhannu Chal (Rebuttal-Czai / Hazara Stud) in the first race of the day, the Shravan Kumar Memorial Cup. Chal Dhannu Chal went on a start to finish bid over the 2000 metres distance and successfully pulled it off from Kireeti. The filly was taken to the front at start and set a rather slow pace. On the straight Jerrell who had followed the leader all the way from the start tried to bridge the gap but was soon a spent force.  Trevor picked up the stick when he saw Kireeti gaining momentum inside the last 150 metres and rode out to stave off the challenger by a head at the finish. The well backed Meheran rallied to finish third another length away.

The next ride for Trevor was L.D’Silva’s 2 year old filly Dancing Leaf (Arazan-Dancing Image) in the Nagarjuna Sagar Plate. The youngster was the on-money favourite for the 1100 metres scurry and she won it very impressively. Settling nicely in third behind Surprise Party and Golden Joy till the bend, Dancing Leaf shot through the shortest way and drew clear to be 7 ½ lengths at the finish. Surprise Party stayed on to finish second. Charlie Brown and Golden Joy filled the frame in that order.

Trevor displayed his artistry while piloting K.S.V.Prasad Raju’s Strengthandbeauty (Multidimensional-Burooq) to a splendid victory in the Ardent Knight Plate. The filly jumped out smartly from the outermost draw and Trevor settled her well in about fifth or sixth. On entering the last 300 metres Astra surged to the lead and Strengthandbeauty started to gain ground from the outside. Trevor had his mount well in control and forged ahead inside the last 150 metres. South Lake and Ryuzaki charged in late to take the second and third spots respectively in front of Astra.

Anupam Sharma trained Shatakshi (Case Law-Sharastamina), a customary front runner had not won a race for over three years. The 6 years old bay mare was still fancied well to be the favourite among the dozen runners for the 1100 metes trip. Shatakshi found herself in front once again and kicked on easily under Pacific Star. Lips Locking and Noble Citizen finished third and fourth respectively.

Lakshman Singh’s Vijay’s Grandeour (Ace-Pride / Greenfield Stud) came with a lightening run to win the lower division of the Golconda Plate. Win And Enjoy had taken charge from Rajkumar passing the 300 metres board and was looking to pull it off from Komo Komo Komo when Vijay’s Grandeour came with a lightening run from almost a lost position to win it to the surprise of his supporters. Komo Komo Komo finished second while Win And Enjoy came in third profusely bleeding from its nostrils.

L.D’Silva saddled his double through Big Boss (Don Michelleto-Shades Of Beauty) in the Eturnagaram Plate. Sent off as the favourite at 16-10, Big Boss showed plenty of early speed to set the pace. Inside the last 200 metres Big Boss began to shift out under pressure but still kept kicking on from Trustful. Time For Smile was third ahead of Spirited.

L.V.R.Deshmukh and jockey Ajit Kumar teamed up for their double on Time Is Luck (Varenar-Touch A Star) in the division I of the Kinnerasani Plate. Time Is Luck was quick to get to the front along the fence. Leading all the way Time Is Luck first kept Majorca at bay and then staved off the late bid of Sketch Of Beauty by a diminishing margin. Majorca was third in front of Picture Perfect.
