ITS A SPLASH OF KOLORS AGAIN AT MALAKPET

L.V.R.Deshmukh trained Kolors (Phoenix Tower-Krasnya / Manjri Stud) scored a resounding victory in the Mir Fazilath Hussain Memorial Cup, the feature of the seven races card on Monday at Hyderabad. The 3 year old bay gelding after winning three races from four starts had a shy in the Colts' Championship stake, finishing third behind Desert God and Colombiana. Sent off as the piping hot favourite for the seven furlongs trip, Kolors took off well at start to lead the pack of seven and was in absolute control all the way. Kalinda was in chase right from the start and rallied on to finish second with Island Bird taking the third spot.

M.Sathyanarayana trained Atlas Star (Placerville-Seriously Stunning) completed a hat-trick in a thrilling nail biting finish with Military Belle in the higher division of the Elusive Hero Plate. Drawn 10 from the outside Atlas Star very quickly ceme in to hit the front. Approaching the distance marker the 4 year old was still in command and then Military Belle started to pick up momentum. Military came charging towards the closing stages and the two flashed past the winning post locked together. Atlas Star had managed to pull it off by a 'nose' in that thrilling finish.Fruit Roll Up and Italayian Cypress finished third and fourth respectively.

It was another close finish in the lower division with public choice Symbol Of Choice (Roi Maudit-Silver Grey) from trainer Anupam Sharma's yard just managing to nudge out Sprint Legend on the last stride. Symbol Of Choice rushed to the lead early but settled to run second when Sprint Legend forged ahead within the first furlong. Inside the last 200 metres Sprint Legend continued to hold forte with Symbol Of Choice pushed hard by apprentice Praveen Gaddam. Inching closer with every stride Symbol Of Choice snatched the race on the post by a short head. Vista and Red Express ended up third and fourth respectively.

Leo D'Silva trained Carolina Moon (Multidimensional-God's Grace / Usha Stud) was the only one to win with longer odds in the Himayat Sagar Cup. As the horses headed towards the starting gates Vijay's Harmony dislodged the rider and went one full round in the reverse direction. The officials at the gates decided to load the gelding despite being a well backed one and all the six took the start. Vijay's Harmony went on a start to finish bid and it was evident that his tank would run dry soon. After leading till the top of the straight Vijays Harmony fizzled out and Carolina Moon surged ahead to take charge. Limitations gave a hot chase inside the last furlong but Carolina Moon stayed well by half a length to pull off its maiden win. Accelerator was third another three parts of a length away. 

M.Sathyanarayana schooled Pentagon (Varena Hi Fi) made a very impressive debut in the Time And Place Plate. Chasing the front running Cashel till entering the straight, Pentagon forged ahead without any fuss and stretched out nicely. Scooby Dooby Doo and Miramar went past the post in that order in a close finish for the second and third places. Cashel was third.

K.Satheesh trained Junior (Dancing Forever-Palladio / Hazara Stud) completed a hat-trick in the opener, the Cabaret Plate. Chasing Dancing Farha till rounding for home Junior moved nicely to tackle from the outside and surged ahead easily under apprentice N.S.Rathore. Dancing Farha stayed on in second from Eva.

Trainer Donald netto earned his solitary win of the day through Double Charter (Lucifer Sam-Crown Charter in the concluding race of the day, the Bakranangal Plate.The 3 year old filly rushed towards the fence after the start and set out to lead the pack. With a lead of over two lengths into the last 300 metres Double Charter kicked on gamely even as Sayyara moved in to take the second spot. Oathofyourdaughter and Wonder Eye finished third and fourth respectively.
