PACQUIAO EMERGES THE SHOW STOPPER IN MANJRI TREBLE

The silks of Manjri Stud farm was in the forefront at Mysore, winning three races including the Committee Trophy, an 1100 metres scurry for 2 year old maiden horses. All the winners were trained by Micheal Eshwer and ridden by young Arshad Alam who booted home a quadruple by the end of the day. Eight youngsters faced the starter for the race and all of them were first timers. Pacquiao (Arabian Gulf-Meadowlark) was blazing the track in the morning trials and the chestnut colt reproduced that form to win it quite easily in the end. Lovely Micmel was in the lead as they turned for home and Pacquiao was in chase. Approaching the last 200 metres Pacquiao forged ahead and kicked clear even as Country’s Angel rallied on to beat Lovely Micmel for the runner-up berth.  

The other two winners were Daylite and Skyfullofstars. Daylite (Phoenix Tower-Nightlife / Manjri Stud) returned to winning ways with a stunning gallop in the Treasure’s Nest Plate. Jockey Arshad Alam took the gelding to head the field within the first furlong and never looked back after that. Naval Glory who garnered the maximum support in the betting to be the hot favourite at 10-7 ‘on’ was up with a challenge throughout the straight but Daylite kicked on resolutely to pull it off by two and a half lengths. Carisa and Castle King rallied on to be third and fourth respectively.

Skfullofstars (Phoenix Tower-Merwaha/ Manjri Stud) won impressively to shed her maiden ranks in the lower division of the Bandipur Plate. The filly settled nicely in third while Smart Mistral and Precious Script exchanged leads in front. Turning for home Arshad Alam got Skyfullofstars to move up from the outside and took over easily inside the last 300 metres. Micheal Eshwer’s filly stretched out effortlessly to extend the lead to 5 ½ lengths from Precious Script who returned to finish second. New Sunrise and Smart Mistral finished third and fourth respectively.

Arshad Alam who hogged the limelight completed a quadruple with M.Bobby trained Bestow (Mr.Mellon-Regal Fantasy / Ruia Stud) in the Nagarahole Plate. The filly was positioned in about eighth as the field turned for home. On the straight Dare The Don had taken a slight advantage on the wide outside from Bucethalis. Bestow was ridden out through the field and Finding an unhindered path the filly quickened with a terrific gallop to pull it off. Sufficient Proof came in late to beat Dare The Don for the second place. Jersey Bride finished fourth. Catharsis was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.

 S.Rakesh pulled off a back to back double through Beautiful Effect and Star Mountain, both ridden by M.Mark. Beautiful Effect (Duja-Loud Water / Pratap Stud) scored an encore in the higher division of the Bandipur Plate. Racing handily behind the leading pair of Sky Jasmine and Arrivederci till the top of the straight Beautiful Effect took charge readily and kicked on from Al Dorado. Sky Jasmine finished third ahead of Bryant Park.  

Star Maountain Placerville-Mitzvah / Poona Stud) won the Sakaleshpur Plate with a measure of comfort. Jockey M.Mark replaced an unwell Madhu Babu on Star Mountain and a lot of money came on the 7 year old, being backed down to on-money. Felix Legion took the lead early and set out on a start to finish bid. Star Mountain held back in third made progress gradually and was up with a challenge on entering the straight. Star Mountain surged ahead of Felix Legion approaching the last 300 metres and won well. For Your Eyes Only rallied on to take the second spot from Royal Prodigy and Scaramouche while Felix Legion burst its blood vessel and finished fifth.

V.Somashekar trained Speed Queen (Diffident-Frequency / Yeravada Stud) scored a maiden win in the opener of the day, the K.R.S.Plate. Racing handily in third behind Al Dahma and Sharp Girl, Speed Queen rallied from the outside and surged past on top of the straight. Magic Wave improved to be second ahead of Sharp Girl and Cesaria.

C.D.Monnappa trained Strengthandwonder (Rebuttal-Private Collection / Hazara Stud) justified te favouritism in the Pandavapura Plate, the concluding race of the day. Silsila was working hard to keep the lead on top of the straight when Strengthandwonder gained momentum to surge ahead and go clear. Gunpowder was finishing on to take the second place ahead of Lucky Emerald and Blue Zone.
