TULIP BLOOMS IN THE FEATURE EVENT

S.Rakesh trained Tulip (Top Class-Dangerous Belle / Mukteshwar Stud) slammed the D.V.Vishwanath Memorial Trophy, Div.I, the main event of Wednesday’s races at Mysore. Stable companion Kaguya Himei looked to pull it off at one stage but Tulip ridden by M Madhu Babu galloped resolutely inside the last 150 metres to storm home victorious. Tulip was held back with the backbenchers for most part of the race and started to improve inside the last 400 metres. Kaguya Himei had taken the lead and the favourite Storming Home was up with a strong challenge but drifting out of the straight. Tulip charged in strongly in the centre of the track and drew clear by five lengths. Kaguya Himei was second and Storming Home third. Ruthba finished fourth. Queen and Bold Nature were withdrawn before the race.

Evalina (Phoenix Tower-Miss Takeortwo / Manjri Stud) returned to winning ways in the Sahyadri Plate. S.M.Johnson trained filly chased the leader Majestic Queen till turning for home and readily took charge on top of the straight. Carisa was in hot pursuit inside the last furlong but Evalina kept going well to score comfortably. Clever Trick rallied along the rails to take the third spot ahead of Miss International.

The day started with debutante Venus Star (Phoenix Tower-Victory March / Manjri Stud) scoreing an authoritative win in the Fame And Glory Plate. Seven youngsters lined up for the 1200 metres sprint and it was Silver Wood who showed good early speed to take it up from Country’s Angel as they took the start. Venus Star settled nicely in third behind them. Passing the 300 metres board jockey Suraj Narredu moved up on Venus Star from the outside and the filly galloped well to grab the lead and stretch out . Country’s Angel stayed on in second while Lorenzo took the third spot.

G.Srinivas Babu trained Zidaan (Mull Of Kintyre-Adam’s Delight / Capricon Stud) scored an upset victory in the lower division of the D.V.Vishwanath Memorial Trophy. The gelding was quick to improve position to be third behind Dare The Don and Sky jet. On straightening up for the final run Zidaan forged ahead easily and extended nicely to wrap it up. The favourite Gunpowder came in late to finish second and was later observed to have burst its blood vessel. Albatross and Catwalk Queen finished third and fourth respectively.

On a day of upsets C.D.Monnappa trained Zamindar (Sharp Attack-Dear To My Heart / Gee Stud) pulled off the biggest one in the Crown Treasure Plate. Into the straight Tandav was in the lead closest to the fence with Ophira and Saratoga Spring in hot pursuit. As the three were fighting out Zamindar put in a good gallop to stake claim from the outside and pulled it off. Rosie’s Dream charged in late but a second beating Tandav was all she could do. Ayman was fourth.

Trainer M Bobby pulled off a surprise through Sharp Girl (Sussex-Acquitaine / Badal Stud) in the Dandeli Plate. Carrying feather weight Sharp Girl rushed to take over the running within the first 100 metres of the race. Leading all the way Sharp Girl won unchallenged. Jump In The Red finished second ahead of Peppr. Cinnamon Rush finished fourth.

Jockey V.R.Jagadeesh rode S.M.Johnson trained Diamond Attraction (Win legend-Whispered Gossip / Ponderosa Stud) scored a maiden win in the lower division of the Pattadakal Plate. Racing handily in about fourth till the top of the straight, Diamond Attraction responded readily when asked to quicken and surged ahead of the long-time leader Ayahuasca with a furlong left from home. The favourite looked beaten and managed to get to the second place. Saturday Affair who was sluggish at start rallied in late to finish a close third.

P.C.Tejaswi’s London Eye (Alnasr Alwasheek-Chitralekha / Yeravada Stud) won the Mekedaatu Plate in an impressive fashion. Tracking the leader Samay Balwan till the last 300 metres London Eye slipped in along the fence and drew clear. The rider looked back repeatedly seeing for any threat close by and not finding any, decided to ease up much before the winning post. Yamas and Indian fought out for the second place and finished that way.

Trainer Tejaswi scored his double through Crown Emperor (Burden Of Proof-Crown Treasure / Kunigal Stud) in the higher division of the Pattadakal Plate. Crown Emperor had finished an eye-catching third after taking a slow start in its last start. This time Crown Emperor took an even jump and was well up with the front bunch. On the straight Run To Win and Western Fleet were fighting it out and Crown Emperor came flying inbetween the two and flashed on to pull it off. Western Fleet beat Run To Win for the second place. Selfie was withdrawn before the race.
