Mr Sarasam Madhusudan Reddy & trainer M Srinivas Reddy leading O Ms Akilah (P Trevor Up), Winner Of The Lingapur Cup Div-I

M.Srinivas Reddy trained O Ms Akhila (Sedgefield-Hidden Danger / Jai Govind Stud) just managed to scrape through in the higher division of the Lingapur Cup, a seven furlongs race for horses in the highest category that was the main event of the day. Thanks to the determined effort of Trevor that ‘Akhila’ just got to beat Numinous on the post. Modern Sniper led the field followed closely by Numinous. O Ms Akhila and Santa Monica raced almost together in third followed by the rest. Inside the last 400 metres Numinous was quick to grab the lead and was going for it. O Ms Akhila was being ridden out but the filly was not quick to respond. Trevor was at his job and the filly got up to bridge the lead inside the last 100 metres and scraped through by a short-head at the wire. Vijay Viraaj and Morning Miracle were finishing on to take the third and fourth places respectively.

It was a much easier victory for Anupam Sharma trained Brahmani (Hymn-Jukebox) in the lower division. Brahmani raced in about sixth till turning for home while Kohinoor Thunder called the shots. As they approached the straight Brahmani chose to save ground from the inside to improve position and once jockey Imran Chisty let go with 250 metres left, she just breezed past to take charge and drew clear. Laurel Canyon and Movie Moghual moved in to finish second and third beating Kohinoor Thunder. Jockey Trevor was dislodged by Veloz at 1100 metres and he escaped unhurt.

The biggest upset of the day came in the FAlaknuma Cup. T.Srinagesh trained Beauty Flash (Arabian Gulf-Seillans) going over the mile distance for the first time surprised everyone with a clean pair of heels. The favourite Dahlois set the pace and was well in front till showing up on the straight tracked closely by Beauty Flash all the way. Passing the 400 metres board Dahlois was already showing distress signals and three horses, Beauty Flash, Accerator and Bellatrix came charging to the front. Beauty Flash travelled the best of them and went clear while Accelerator finished second ahead of Bellatrix. Dahlois barely managed to keep the fourth place.

L.V.R.Deshmukh trained Victorindiafoxtrot (Rebuttal-Star Gold) bounced back to winning ways in the opener, the Galactica Plate. Racing fourth all the way from the start over the 2200 metres trip Victorindiafoxtrot came in the widest to make a bid as they turned for home and galloped to take charge mid-way up the straight. Limitation came with a strong challenge but jockey P.S.Chouhan ensured that Victorindiafoxtrot held on by quarter of a length. Meheran finished third in front of Blue Eyed Babe.

First timer Vijay’s Empress (Ace-Gold Marie) from Laxman Singh’s yard made it in the Romantic Fantasy Plate. Vijay’s Empress was not the smartest out of the gates but quickly made up ground to run second behind the favourite Vijay’s Wonder. The two fought out inside the last 200 metres and Vijay’s Empress emerged the better. Charlie Brown came charging down from behind but the winning post came to the rescue of Vijay’s Empress who had held on by a whisker. Elysian was third another half a length away and Vijays Wonder fourth.

Trainer Anupam Sharma and jockey Imran Chisty together wrapped up both the divisions of the Haridwar Plate. Sketch Of Beauty (Black Cash-Wisdom Queen) scored an encore in the higher division, the last race of the day. Improving to be second behind Sprint Legend as they turned for home, Sketch Of Beauty stormed clear on top of the straight and drew clear. Italian Cypress, Kohinoor Punch and Sprint Legend filled the judge’s frame in that order. Aakash Vani (Eljohar-Carmen) went on a start to finish bid to complete an encore in the lower division. Commanding Boy was in chase all the way and ended up second. Moon Walker and Rock Baby Rock finished third and fourth respectively.

S.S.Faisal Hassan trained Awesome Show (Rebuttal-Symphony In Dee) won the Wishful Thinking Plate. The gelding after a good start decided to track the leader Hunter’s Pride. On top of the straight Awesome Show surged ahead with ease and went on to score its maiden win.  The favourite Poll Promise tried to challenge inside the last 200 metres but found the winner too good and settled for the runner-up berth. Sol Invictus was third and Hunter’s Pride fourth.

Faiyaz Shaikh trained Great Warrior (Glory Of Dancer-Dance In The ‘), a 10-1 shot won the Olympic Flame Plate. Squanderers Square and Trustful were together approaching the distance marker and Great Warrior was looking to slip in through the shortest way. Trustful held the fight for a short while and then surrendered to Great Warrior. Squanderers Square finished third ahead of Symbol Of Honour.
