Mr Gudur Narayan Reddy & trainer K S V Prasad Raju leading Aventus (P Trevor Up), winner of The R M Reddy Memorial Cup

K.S.V.Prasad Raju trained Aventus (Ace-Starboard), winner of the Qutab Shahi Million hardly a fortnight ago, repeated that performance in the R.M.Reddy Memorial Cup, a gruelling 2400 metres trip for horses in the highest category. Red Rambble set the pace followed by Machine Gun, Meheran, Ashok Chakra, Brahmani and Aventus in last. The order remained almost the same till approaching the last 800 metres. On the straight Ashok Chakra was on a challenge for a brief while and Aventus started to gain ground from the wide outside. Aventus was in the lead before passing the distance post and Trevor was in full control on the 6 year old. Aventus made it to the winning post unchallenged while the favourite Meheran just managed to take the second place ahead of Brahmani and Red Rambble.

Trevor had earlier piloted L.D’Silva’s Magna Carta (Chevalier-Associate) to victory in the lower division of the Attractress Plate. Magna Carta who was still a maiden going into the race settled a handy third along the fence while Preciosa led the field followed by Rumpelstiltskin. Inside the last 300 metres Preciosa was sticking stubbornly in front even as Magna Carta tried its best to get past. It took some time for Magna Carta to raise a gallop but once he did, went clear ahead. Ashwa Ashoka charged in late to beat Preciosa for the second place. Handy Man finished fourth.

D.Netto’s Leading Legend (Multidimensional-Amstel) who was on a debut won the higher division. Carnival Express set off on a start to finish bid and Leading Legend was tracking the leader. Turning for home the favourite Iron Cross sneaked in between the two and raced to take it up. Leading Legend also moved quickly and the two drew away from the rest. Chisty on Iron Cross and Imran Khan on Leading Legend went all out and it was the latter who forged ahead inside the last 100 metres. Silver Dollar finished third.

Imran Chisty managed to easily steer M.Srinivas Reddy’s Miracle King to victory in the division I of the Best Of Fun Plate. The race was a 1200 metres sprint for 3 years old maiden horses and Miracle King was sent off as the favourite at 10-9 ‘on’. Racing in about sixth close to the rails till straightening for home, Miracle King was pulled out for a clear run and with a strong gallop overhauled Big Flash comfortably. Secret Art and Miramar ended up third and fourth respectively.

M.Sathyanarayana trained Dragonstone (Varenar-Queen Victoria) justified the favouritism in the lower division. Ruby’s Gift raced in front followed closely by Mandy. Dragonstone had settled well to be in third. As they headed past the 200 metres The duo in front started to fight it out and Dragonstone was alighted to the task from the outside. With jockey K.Sai Kiran riding out Dragonstone flashed past the two and won impressively. Ruby’s Gift held on to the second place ahead of Mandy.

Anupam Sharma was the only trainer to score a double. Blue Eyed Babe and Symbol Of Pride were the victors from the stables.  Blue Eyed Babe scored an encore in the Twin Star Plate. The filly was travelling with the rear bunch while Junior went on a start to finish bid. As they approached the last 200 metres Vijays Victory and Blue Eyed Babe started to cover ground from way behind and sped past Junior. Blue Eyed Babe was half a length in front of Vijays Victory at the finish.

Symbol Of Pride (Hymn-Page Three) who was winless from ten starts finally came good in the Ballerina Star Plate, the concluding race of the day. Jumping out smartly from an outward draw Symbol Of Pride rushed towards the inside to get to the front and led all the way. Tricky Star and Moghal Pretty came in late to take the second and third spot respectively. Rolls Roycee was withdrawn near the gates.

S.S.Faisal Hassan’s Legacy Machine (Arazan-Risada) won its second start from as many starts in the opener, the Twin Cities Cup. After changing its legs repeatedly till turning for home Legacy Machine took charge from the outside and drew clear on the home stretch. Exclusive Manarchy, Rose ‘D’ Mumtaz and Ryuzaki filled the frame in that order.

T.Srinagesh trained Beauty Flash (Arabian Gulf-Seillans) scored an easy win in the King’s Crown Plate. Tracking Rocking Racer till entering the straight Beauty Flash took charge and won without much fuss. Roma Rouge finished second ahead of Proud Image and Rocking Racer.
