SATELLITE SNATCHES THE KAKATIYA MILLION ON THE POST

The Kunigal Stud bred Satellite (Burden Of Proof-Set Alight) got into a final burst of speed to snatch the victory on the last stride in the prestigious Kakatiya Million – Gr3 at Hyderabad on Saturday. Ridden by Ryan Marshall the Bangalore challenger was quoted at a liberal 12-1 while Vijay Vidhata received maximum support to be the favourite at ‘Evens’. Parade Queen was speedy at start and led the field till into the last 300 metres. Vijay Vidhata was brought along the rails to make its bid and took over the running passing the distance marker as per plans. Satellite who raced with the rear bunch for most part of the race took the shortest path to improve position as they rounded the final bend and making way for herself came with a sizzling gallop inside the last 100 metres to get the not literarily on the last stride. Galiat was third another two lengths away from Senorita Evita.

K.Satheesh trained Time For Fun (Noverre-West With The Wind) started the day in the Nawab Mir Mustaq Ali Khan Memorial Cup. The filly who had found one better in the last three starts galloped freely to win the race comfortably. Racing in fifth till the turn Time for Fun was pulled out to be guided from the wide outside. She was in front mid-way up the straight and won unchallenged. The well backed Vijay Vaishnavee was in futile chase throughout the last furlong to be the runner-up. Numinous and Winjoy took the third and fourth places respectively.

George Cross (West Virginia-Celestina) from trainer Anupam Sharma’s stables won the higher division of the Dinkydo Plate, an 1100 metres dash for maiden 3 years old. Breaking out from the outermost draw George Cross rushed to the fence to take it up. Montana Sky soon took over the running and George Cross was in chase. With a furlong left on the straight jockey Imran Chisty started to ride out George Cross and the bay colt responded well to collar the leader and forge ahead by three parts of a length. Patron Saint closed in late to be a close third.

In the lower division it was D.Netto’s Big Flash (Ravel-So Will I) who carried the public purse from start to finish. Jockey Imran Khan took Big Flash to lead the field as the gates opened and Vijay’s Dynamite was in chase. They raced that way all the way and Big Flash was a clear length and a half ahead at the finish. Good Confidence finished third from Elysian.

Trainer Anupam Sharma led in his second winner through Princess Hina (Royal Gladiator-CAmero) in the lower division of the Rock of Gibraltar Cup. Princess Hina and Gangadhar both rushed through along the fence to get to the front inside the last 150 metres and the former held out by a length and a quarter at the wire. Gangadhar raised an objection against the rider of Princess Hina for interference and the stewards finding no merits in the case overruled the same. Prince Of Arabia took the third place from the long-time leader Brilliant Twist.

Rank outsider Oathofyourdaughter (Oath-Zante) from the stables of K.V.Srinivas won the higher division. The race favourite Vijay Sakhi went as per plan and took charge mid-way up the straight. Oathofyourdaughter started to get up from behind and with apprentice G.Naresh riding out sped past Vijay Sakhi inside the last 100 metres.

Naresh scored a back to back double through Ananta Vatsalya’s Upon A Star (Hymn-Wishing On A Star) in the Artistic Tribute Plate. Upon A Star who was winless from 38 starts finally came good to beat Roma Rouge by a length. Cruiser and Time For Smile finished third and fourth respectively.

R.H.Sequeira trained Penumatcha’s Pride (Ivory Touch-Penumatcha) went on a start to finish bid in the Illustrious Reign Plate and successfully pulled off a maiden victory. Leading all the way from the start Penumatcha’s Pride started to extend the lead on the straight and won by a big margin of over five lengths. Sayyara and Perfection finished second and third respectively in a close finish.

K.S.V.Prasad Raju trained Royal Hero (Samhoon-Into The Future) won the Storm Trooper Plate, the concluding race of the day. Royal Hero improved to go to the front as they turned for home and was never headed since. Meri Merzi was in chase throughout the stretch to finish second. Gun Stream and Blaze Of Glory finished third and fourth respectively.
