GAARSWOOD WINS THE FEATURE EVENTS

Gaarswood (Koushik Up), winner of The Sri S.Ramakrishnam Raju Memorial Cup Div-1

R.H.Sequeira trained Gaarswood (Home Affairs-Admiration) rallied from almost the rear to snatch the race in the shadow of the winning post in the division I of the Sri S.Ramakrishnam Raju Memorial Cup, that featured the day’s card of nine races at Hyderabad on Sunday. On entering the straight Vista had just grabbed the lead from Palm Springs and Columbus even as Gaarswood was still in second last. Gaarswood was pulled on the outside and the 7 years old was alighted to the task by apprentice Koushik from the extreme outside. Covering places at a fast pace, rank outsider Gaarswood devoured ground to beat Vista in the last few strides. Laurel Canyon was third ahead of Columbus.

Ananta Vatsalya trained Mangalyaan (Ravel-Dandiya) managed to pull it off in a close finish involving four runners in the higher division of the M.C.E.M.E.Rolling Trophy, the supporting race of the day. As they came into the last 200 metres Malakeya Ziba who was on a start to finish bid was in the lead with Tinsel Town hard at work. Mangalyaan racing in about fifth all the way started to get closer from the outside and with a resolute gallop inside the last 100 metres flashed past to win it by half a length. A more favoured stable mate Tinsel Town ended up second from Legend and Malakeye Ziba.

Lesser fancied Kohinoor Thunder (Epicentre-Gracious Bay) from trainer K.R.K.Raju’s yard won the lower division of the Sri.S.Ramakrishnam Raju Memorial Cup. Kohinoor Thunder rushed to take the running as the gates opened and led till approaching the distance marker. Win And Enjoy rallied strongly from the inside and forged ahead. Carlton, Morning Miracle and O Ms Akhila were also closing up. Kohinoor Thunder with renewed vigour started to gallop strongly and regained the lost lead to get it by a short-head from Carlton at the wire. Morning Miracle and Win And Enjoy finished third and fourth respectively.

Trainer Raju had earlier successfully led in Commanding Boy (Royal Gladiator-Think Of Us) in the lower division of the M.C.E.M.E.Rolling Trophy.Carrying the top weight Commanding Boy went on a start to finish bid and pulled it off by three parts of a length from City Of Wonders. Eternal Gift finished third and Military Cross fourth.

The day started off with M.Srinivas Reddy trained Iron Cross (Chevalier-So Shocking) scoring an impressive victory in the Don Micheletto Plate, a mile race for maiden 3 years old horses. Having finished second in both its starts, Iron Cross was sent off as the favourite at ‘half money’. Symbol Of Star’s set off on a start to finish bid and Iron Cross moved to be second as they turned for home. When the rider Imran Chisty reminded Iron Cross of its task on the home stretch, the bay colt readily took over and went clear. Symbol Of Star’s was a clear second. Surprise Party finished third. Silver Dollar and Telangana Queen were withdrawn before the race.

Trainer Anupam Sharma also score a brace with Blaze Of Glory anf Symbol Of Pride. Blaze Of Glory (Top Class-Intricate) who was winless from 16 starts finally came good in the higher division of the Capachino Plate. Poll Promise went to lead the field early in the race and was still there approaching the last 200 metres. Blaze OF Glory improved from about fifth position to challenge Poll Promise and a keen fight ensued between the two in the last 100 metres. Blaze Of Glory travelled the better under P.Ajeeth Kumar and surged ahead by quarter of a length at the finish. It was close between Pamella and Moghal Pretty for the third and fourth places. Sol Invictus was withdrawn near the gates.

Symbol Of Pride (Hymn-Page Three) scored an encore in the Mount Everest Plate, the concluding race of the day. Sent off as the favourite among the 14 runners for the 1100 metres dash, Symbol Of Pride went on a start to finish bid and kicked on gamely on the straight. Globetrotter managed to sneak ahead of Cruiser for the second place close to the winning post. Barbossa filled the judge’s frame.

K.S.V.Prasad Raju’s Royal Hero (Samhoon-Into The Future) completed an encore in the Aberader Plate. The race favourite Penumatcha’s Pride went to the lead passing the 600 metres board and Royal Hero was quick to move on its haunches. On the straight Royal Hero strode better from the outside and surged ahead easily. Coruba came in late to take the second spot from Penumatcha’s Pride.

D.Netto trained Sir Legend (China Visit-Dazzling Skill / Usha Stud) managed to justify the short price in the lower division of the Capachino Plate. Yes Baby was on a start to finish bid and Sir Legend began to chase from the top of the straight. The lead started to diminish with jockey A.Imran Khan riding hard on the favourite and finally forged ahead in the dying moments to score a maiden victory. Perfection and Onk Onk Onk finished third and fourth respectively.
