Trainer L D Silva leading Beau Ideal (P Trevor Up), winner of The A.P Race Horse Owners Association Trophy Div-1

The A.P.Race Horse Owners Association Trophy that featured Monday’s races at Hyderabad was divided into three races. Jockey P.Trevor was at his best while driving home L.D’Silva’s Beau Ideal (Don Michelleto-Shades Of Beauty) to a sensational victory in the first division. It was a nail biting finish between Sprint Legend and Beau Ideal and the latter prevailed by the proverbial whisker. Sprint Legend having jumped out the quickest from the outermost draw rushed to lead the field. Beau Ideal was in chase followed by the rest. Inside the last 200 metres Sprint Legend was hard at work to retain the lead even as Beau Ideal in the centre and Win And Enjoy started to stake their claim. Trevor gave Beau Ideal a remarkable ride to get her to collar Sprint Legend and forged ahead inside the last 100 metres. Sprint Legend put in a renewed effort in the dying moments but the winning post came to the rescue of Beau Ideal who scampered home by a whisker. Rubyonrails finished third ahead of Win And Enjoy.

S.S.Faisal Hassan trained Valley Secrete (Glory Of Dancer-Miyamoto / Nanoli Stud) won the second division with a late burst of speed from the rear. Valley Secrete was still in second last as they turned for home and jockey Akshay Kumar pulled her out on the extreme outside to make a bid. Inside the last 200 metres four horses, Blossom, Vijays Joy, Fruit Roll Up and Quen of the Stars were grouping up and the race still looked open. Valley Secrete unleashed a terrific gallop from the outside and sped past the fighting quartet to win by half a length. Blosson finished second with Fruit Roll Up a close third and Vijays Joy fourth.

D.Netto trained Parade Queen (Captrain Rio-Romancing) had it much easier in the third division of the feature event. The filly disputed the lead with Kohinoor Thunder till the top of the straight and surged ahead without much fuss inside the last 400 metres. Parade Queen extended well to kick on and won comfortably from King Of Pop who was finishing on towards the closing stages. Sketch Of Beauty finished third in front of Kohinoor Thunder.

Netto had earlier in the day led in Sea Change (Lord Admiral-Spanish Whisper / Manjri Stud) in the Taramati Cup. Roma Rouge was on a start to finish bid and Sea Change raced in fourth close to the fence. On the straight Sea Change found the gap along the rails opening up and went for it. Upon A Star also made a strong bid and the two surged ahead and fought out the last 150 metres. Sea Change prevailed by a neck at the finish. Roma Rouge finished third and Goldie fourth. Chocolate Soldier and Classic Emerald were withdrawn near the gates.

Well backed favourites won both the divisions of the Republic Plate. M.Sathyanarayana schooled Indian Dreams (Chinese Whisper-Feet Of Flames) won the higher division. Patron Saint was in the lead from the start and brought the field into view on the straight. Great Glory rushed towards the inner rails and Indian Dreams made a bid from the outside of Patron Saint. The two fought out even as Patron Saint gave up soon and Indian Dreams proved to be a ‘neck’ better at the finish. Chester finished fourth behind Patron Saint.

In the lower division it was Laxman Singh trained Rose Eternal (Virtual-Aline’s Wings) who was ridden to victory by Trevor. Rose Eternal was the smartest out from draw one and led all the way. The filly looked good inside the last 100 metres but Like Wise came with a fast gallop from behind, closing up the gap at a fast pace. Rose Eternal nevertheless held on by a neck at the wire. Ruby’s Gift was third another two lengths away.

Ananta Vatsalya’s Tinsel Town (Roi Maudit-Flaming Ruby) who was knocking at the doors in her recent runs came good in the Mossy Banks Plate, the concluding race of the day. Improving places gradually Tinsel Town came to challenge the leader Green Striker and with jockey Imran Chisty riding out sped past to win easily. Last outing winner Mangalyaan rallied on to be second. Legend and Rio Rojo finished third and fourth respectively.

While the fight for the top honours among the jockeys is still on, Anupam Sharma looks to be well ahead among the trainers. He added one more to his tally with Sarvagnya (Juniper-Ahliyat) in the division I of the Mother’s Boy Plate. The 7 year old, a 10-1 shot went on a start to finish mission over the seven furlongs trip and kicked on gamely on the straight. Torremolinos, Junior and Aston Doulton filled the judge’s frame in that order.

K.Satheesh trained Kimono (Noverre-Hounds Of Love) won the lower division. Flower Roll Up went on a start to finish bid and Kimono was held back to run towards the rear. Improving gradually from the outside Kimono inched closer to Flower Roll Up and put its ‘head’ in front at the finish. Gayle Force finished third and Par Excellence fourth. Arudra and Yet Again were withdrawn before the race.
