Trainer Ranjeet Shinde leading Clever Trick (Md Sameer Up), winner of The Nairn Trophy

Ranjeet Shinde trained Clever Trick (Gaswar-First Trick / Galloping Acres Stud) was given a confident ride by young Md. Sameer to clinch the Nairn Trophy, the feature of the day’s card at Mysore. The 7 year old had it in her to make the grade; having hit the board in her last five starts but was surprisingly neglected in the betting with the top weighted Naval Glory garnering the chunk of the money. Clever Trick jumped out smartly from the gates and rushed to get to the front. Leading all the way Clever Trick brought the field into view on the home stretch. Naval Glory was in chase all the way and Ace Force started to challenge on the straight. The two challengers got closer towards the finish but Clever Trick held on gamely from Ace Force and Naval Glory in a close three way finish. Lads Ability was withdrawn on veterinary grounds near the gates.

The top weighted Kingoftheworld ( Phoenix Tower-Sandslash / Manjri Stud) won the opener, the Nalanda Plate but not before getting all his supporters to the edge of their seats. The 10-3 on favourite just managed to scrape through from Precious Asset. Settling well in third till turning for home, Kingoftheworld rallied from the outside to grab the lead on top of the straight. Precious Asset started to rally strongly from the inside and the two fought out the last 100 metres. They went past the winning post locked together and the magic eye went in favour of the favourite Kingoftheworld. The rider of Precious Asset lodged an unsuccessful objection against the winner for interference in the last 100 metres. Comaraderie was withdrawn near the starting gates.

It was an ‘outsider’ exacta in the Kaginele Plate with un-fancied horses making the frame. Ranjeet Shinde trained Premier Ace (Ace-Premier Collection / Exhiliration Stud)made it a pillar to victory over the seven furlongs trip. The filly that had seen the winning post only on debut took a smart jump and opened up a good lead. Fancied runners Al Dorado and Invincible Wish were in chase entering the straight expecting the leader to pack off but the filly extended the lead and won by almost a street. Cactus Cash and Country’s Fortune rallied along the rails to take the second and third places respectively. Al Dorado finished fourth.

B.K.Narendra trained Born For Stakes (Oath-Liquid Gold / Pratap Stud) produced a mighty gallop in the last 100 metres to lift the Heggadadevanakote Plate. Giralda set out on a start to finish bid and Born For Stakes was held back in third. Approaching the last 100 metres Born For Stakes took the closest path and making way for himself challenged the leader and got the better by a neck at the finish. Golden Steps came with a long stretched run to take the third spot.

P.C.Tejaswi trained Ephialties (Glory Of Dancer-Brief Adventure / Nanoli Stud) who had run into the money in an impressive fashion just a week ago, came good to lift the higher division of the Ranibennur Plate. The gelding with a quick jump from the innermost draw rushed to the front and held off an early bid by Ice Splendour. The two travelled almost together all the way with Ephialties slightly ahead. They came away from the rest on the straight and Ephialties kept up the lead to win by a length. Miyarprincess and Platinum Pearl finished third and fourth respectively.

Trainer Sajid Qureshi sent out Zoe (European-Sacred Dreams / Arabesque Stud) to lift the lower division. Al Dahma the customary front runner led till the topof the straight. Zoe who was quietly fancied by the connections after racing in fifth till the final turn started to move up and assumed command with 300 metres left from home. Always United was travelling well from the rear but had to settle for the runner-up berth as Zoe continued to gallop well under Arshad Alam. Scaramouche who traversed with the rear bunch for most part of the race came up well to take the third spot.

C.Girinath  trained Skyjet (Glory Of Dancer-Desert Sky / Manju Meadows Stud) justified the favouritism in the division I of the Somwarpet Plate. Jockey S.John took Skyjet to the lead at start and Dark William settled well in chase. Inside the last 300 metres the two began to fight a hard battle with both John and Srinath on Dark William not letting go. After the hard duel Skyjet prevailed by half a length at the finish.

Jockey Arshad Alam rode out M.Bobby trained See The Storm (Senure-Perfect Peace / Yeravada Stud) to an exciting win in the lower division of the Somwarpet Plate. The favourite Reach The Stars was taken to the front early in the race but started to show distress signals entering the last furlong. Veni Vidi Vici and See The Storm began to get stronger from the outside and the two forged ahead. They fought out the last 100 metres and the latter made it first to the post by a short head. Reach The Stars finished third and Jersey Bride fourth.
