Arvak who suffered an injury while being loaded at Bangalore was withdrawn from the fray and Rafa was sent off as the favourite among the six contenders.

Good Fortune shot off to the lead as the gates opened and Rafa settled well in second. The local challenger Kingoftheworld raced third followed by Smart N Noble while Haloween’s Way and Eon braced the rear. On the straight Good Fortune was still in the lead with jockey Arshad Alam pulling out the stick early to keep it going. Sandesh on Rafa in the meanwhile waited for the opportune moment at a striking distance behind the leader. Approaching the last 100 metres Sandesh gave just three cracks to Rafa and the son of Mathematecian responded readily to raise a fluent gallop from the outside and down Good Fortune by a good length. Kingoftheworld and Smart N Noble finished together for the third and fourth places respectively.

C.D.Monnappa trained Gelignite (Mathematecian-Hyacinth / Sans Craintes Stud) maintained its winning record on this course, scoring its fourth win from as many starts. The speedy son of Mathematecian set off in front right from the start and stayed stubbornly ahead when challenged by Veni Vidi Vici in the early part of the In The Spotlight Trophy. On the final stretch Gelignite continued to kick on gamely and won impressively. As Good As Gold managed to beat Veni Vidi Vici for the runner-up berth. Bold Police was withdrawn after being troublesome near the gates. Jockey L.Prashant had a fall from Capitano 500 metres from home. The fall looked bad but the jockey escaped with minor bruises.

S.Rakesh trained Siddhani (West Virginia-Royal Guest / Nakul Stud) was confidently ridden by S.John to lift the Paschimavahini Plate. The top weighted Skyjet who likes to break the wind once again showed early speed to get to the lead. Siddhani sat well on the haunches of the leader right from the start. As they turned for home Siddhani got stronger from the outside and forged ahead passing the 300 metres board. John continued to be forceful on the filly did well to stay ahead by three parts of a length at the finish. Abderus beat the rest to finish in the money. Skyfullofstars was fourth.

Trainer C.V.G.K.Kishore had a fruitful day, scoring a hat-trick. Invincible Wish, Western Alliance and Castle King were the victors from the stable. Castle King (Hymn-Castle Beauty / Jai Govind Stud) bounced back to winning ways in the Konark Plate. The favourite Momotaro set off in front from the start and had opened up a long lead by the time they reached the half way stage of the mile trip. Entering the straight Momotaro was still in front but was beginning to shorten its stride. Castle King was in third and the rider Arshad Alam began to use the stick freely. The lead of Momotaro began to diminish at a fast pace and Castle King sped past inside the last 50 metres to emerge victorious by a length. Absolute Brave was faraway third.

Western Alliance (C P West-Amaryllis / Galloping Acres Stud) scored its maiden win in a very convincing manner. Jumping out from the outermost draw, Western Alliance showed plenty of speed and got to the front. Aretes settled to chase in second followed by the rest. On entering the last 400 metres the 4 year old who was still in front began to extend the lead and drew away by almost a distance. Aretes tagged along in second followed by Green Emerald and Badshah.

Invincible Wish (Mull Of Kintyre-Nimble Feet / Amanali Stud) won the opener of the day the Varanasi Plate. Ireland set off in the lead followed closely by Born For Stakes, Invincible Wish and the rest. As they turned for home Invincible Wish surged into the front and opened a big leeway. Grace And Glory started to cover ground from the outside and inched closer with every stride but the winning post came to the rescue of Invincible Wish who held on well by three parts of a length. It started to rain heavily before the start of the last race, the Kanchanaganga Plate. Vikram Appachu trained Happy Victory (Oath-Temple Tune / Pratap Stud) who had not won a race for three years but showing return to form in the last two runs relished the underfoot conditions and scored a runaway victory. Al Dhama in its customary fashion tried start to finish tactics. Delta Delight, Kir Royale and Malkia raced close behind in that order followed by Happy Victory and the rest. As they turned for home Happy Victory was pulled on the outside and the 7 year old was quick to grab the lead widest of all. Despite drifting out of the straight course Happy Victory extended the lead and spared a street to Al Dahma. Kir Royale finished third while the favourite Ice Brown who was not sighted in the initial part finished on to be fourth.
