P.C.Tejaswi trained Port Blair (Noverre-Shanley / Sohna Stud) made it to the winner’s enclosure in the Star Supreme Trophy, the main event of Thursday’s races at Mysore. A false start was declared after the horses jumped out when the rider of Premier Ace was off his mount. Ruthba and Premier Ace who completed the course rider less were withdrawn and the remaining six were reloaded for a fresh start. Country’s Sher went on a start to finish bid followed closely by Excelonce, Port Blair, Tremendous, Aldorado and Passing Fancy with just about three lengths separating the six of them. On the straight Country’s Sher held on till the distance post but its legs did not hold any longer. Excelonce and Tremendous were involved in a duel inside the last furlong and Port Blair who found a gap along the rails went for it and sneaked through to get the better of Excelonce by half a length at the finish. Tremendous and Country’s Sher finished third and fourth respectively.

Manjri Colours scored a back to back double through Excelerate and Pacquiao, both of them trained by Michael Eshwer and ridden by S.Zervan. Excelerate (Phoenix Tower-Round Tree) who is in rousing form completed a hat-trick in the Girinagara Plate. Clever Trick disputed the lead with Shivalik Story till the top of the straight and surged ahead. Excelerate rallied from the inside and the son of Phoenix Tower accelerated in tremendous fashion inside the last 150 metres to down the efforts of Clever Trick. Shivalik Story finished on in third with Dyna filling the frame. Avocet was withdrawn from the race. Avocet who reared up violently in the saddling area hurt itself badly and had to be put to sleep.

Pacquiao (Arabian Gulf-Meadowlark) won the higher division of the Tapathi Plate by a lengthening margin. Al Dahma in its usual style got to the front and cut the wind. Inside the last 300 metres Pacquiao took charge with minimum effort and extended the lead to beat them all by over six lengths. Speed Queen managed to get the better of Al Dahma for the second place. Catharsis finished fourth.

Vikram Appachu trained Amazing Connection (Alnasr Alwasheek-Arabian Lady / Yeravada Stud) galloped strongly towards the last 200 metres to down the efforts of Silent Trust in the lower division. Amazing Connection was held close to the rails in fourth while Teri Adah led followed closely by Silent Trust and Bryant Park. Approaching the 400 metres board on the straight Silent Trust was quick to take the lead. Amazing Connection finding the gap narrowing down was pulled on the outside by Kiran Rai and the filly responded readily when ridden out to go sweeping past the leader. Silent Trust finished second while Generous Gesture came from way behind to take the third place.

Trainer Pratap Kamath saddled a double through Felix Legion and Miyarprincess, both ridden by S.G.Prasad. Felix Legion (Inhabitant-Hello Baby / Doaba Stud) that was winless from eleven starts finally made it to the winner’s enclosure in the Sea Bisquit Plate, the opener of the day. Felix Legion travelled in third while Alps led the pack followed by Sunbow. On entering the straight jockey S.G.Prasad started to ride out Felix Legion and the 5 year old responded well and surged ahead comfortably. Alps stayed on in second followed by Sunbow and Green Emerald.

Miyarsprincess (Brave Act-Sea Spray / Kunigal Stud) that had won last exactly two years ago found the going good in the Diabolical Plate. Miyarsprincess showed plenty of early speed to hit the front as the gates opened. On the straight Dark William started to challenge from the outside but Miyarsprincess continued to kick on and held out by a length and three quarters. Veni Vidi Vici warmed up late to take the third spot ahead of Ice Splendour.
