Trainer K Satheesh leading Time For Fun (N S Rathore Up), winner of The Air Command Cup

K.Satheesh trained Time For Fun (Noverre-West With The Wind) managed to edge out Machiavellianism and Galiat in an absolving three way finish in the Air Command Cup, the main event of Sunday’s races at Hyderabad. Racing Ahead was withdrawn near the gates and seven runners lined up for the mile race. Vijay Viraaj and Greek Star disputed the lead as they settled down to race followed by Galian, Time For Fun, Dare To Dream, Machiavellianism and Policy Maker. Approaching the final furlong Galiat and Time For Fun made their move at the same juncture to go ahead and Machiavellianism joined the duo from the outside. The three were almost in a line as they headed towards the finish line and it was Time For Fun that got the nod from Machiavellianism at the wire. Galiat was third in the same frame. Policy Maker covered ground to fill the judge’s frame.

R.H.Sequeira schooled Awesome Approach (Abbeyside-Terra Nova) scored an imposing win on debut in the higher division of the Silverado Plate. Amazing Venus set out in front and brought the field into view in the straight. Awesome Approach racing in about seventh till the top of the straight started to unleash a run from the outside and with a dazzling gallop broke away from the pack and drew clear. Vijays Wonder, Olympic Hero and Magnum filled the frame in that order.

Trainer Satheesh and jockey earlier in the day scored through Space Ship in the lower division. A well backed Space Ship took advantage of the innermost draw and positioned herself in the lead within the first two hundred metres. On entering the home stretch Space Ship was still in the lead with Shakesphere trying to bridge the gap. Space Ship showed a clean pair of heels inside the last 100 metres and sped away even as Negress Pearl and Vijays Honour finished on to be second and third respectively. The favourite Avantika ended up fourth.

Trainer L.V.R.Deshmukh and apprentice Ajit Singh teamed up to pack a double through Morning Miracle and Perfection. Morning Miracle pulled off an easy win in the opener of the day, the Mirza Ghalib Plate. Racing handily in about third till turning for home Morning Miracle grabbed the lead quickly approaching the 300 metres and skipped away to win easily. Mangalyan chased the winner in second while Modern Sniper and the favourite Charlie Brown finished third and fourth respectively.

Perfection (Chevalier-Sharp Memory), a 3-1 shot scored an encore in the Elegant Plate. The 4 year old filly improved on the straight to get to the lead passing the distance marker. Charming Beauty challenged strongly from the outside and they went all out till the finish with Perfection just clinging on to the lead by a ‘head’ at the wire. Legend finished third ahead of Princess Rose. I Am Rare was a non-starter in the race.

L.D’Silva trained Magna Carta (Chevalier-Associate) ended up winning the Turf Club Cup. Ravinder Singh trained Without Makeup was the overwhelming favourite for the sprint and the bay colt showed plenty of speed to lead the field from the word ‘go’. On entering the straight Without Makeup was still in the lead but Magna Carta was beginning to get closer from the outside. Inside the last 150 metres Magna Carta galloped resolutely to overhaul the favourite and quickened nicely to spare a length and a half at the finish. Khan Sahib and Vijay’s Empress finished third and fourth respectively.

Trainer Arjun Anne sent out Rock Heights (Duja-Naval Guardian) to win the Vikarabad Plate. The 6 year old, a 10-1 shot was quickly on the haunches of the leader Beauty Flash as they approached the final turn. Rock Heights surged ahead to get to the lead on top of the straight and kicked on gamely to keep the efforts of Kohinoor Karishma at bay. True Pearl finished third and Proud Image fourth.
