M.Srinivas Reddy trained Always Bullish (Storm Trooper-Blue Sonata / Chhatari Stud) claimed the Chief Minister’s Cup, the main event of Sunday’s races at Hyderabad warding off the bid of Galiat. Always Bullish whose last win was exactly a year ago was the least fancied among the six runners that lined up for the mile race. As the gates opened Always Bullish found itself in front but soon settled in third when Policy Maker and Supreme Fairy showed intent to race one and two. Galiat followed the trio followed by Carlton and Machiavellianism. On entering the straight Policy Maker showed up first but Always Bullish made a quick move to challenge and surge ahead. Galiat came charging from the outside but Always Bullish was ridden out by Mukesh Kumar to stave off Galiats effort by half a length. Policy Maker stayed on in third ahead of Supreme Fairy.

Jockey Mukesh Kumar had a profitable day booting home three winners. He started off the day with Srinivas Reddy’s youngster Doroteo (China Visit-Dazzling Queen) in the Swamy Ramananda Thirtha Plate, a seven furlongs race for maiden 3 years old. The bay colt who was improving places with every run was sent off as the hot favourite at 10-4 ‘on’. Smartly out of the gates from the outermost draw Doroteo went past the half a dozen runners to get to the front early. Inside the last 300 metres Composure tried to bridge the gap but Doroteo stretched out easily to win by a big margin. Composure finished second and Avantika ended up third.

Mukesh Kumar then rode Anupam Sharma’s Exclusive Wind (Ravel-Calliope) to a popular victory in the Heritage Cup. Going over the mile distance for the first time Exclusive Wind led early and then settled in second when Modern Sniper showed eagerness to lead the pack. Passing the 400 metres Exclusive Wind was alighted to the task from the outside and he headed past Modern Sniper with ease and drew clear. Ice Crystal was third further behind and Oathofyourdaughter filled the frame.

S.A.Shehzad Abbas trained Valerian Steel (Yeats-Nan Scurry) won the Dynamic Dancer Cup. Kohinoor Karishma set out in the lead and Valerian Steel was in chase within the first two furlongs. Passing the 300 metres board Valerian Steel improved to join Kohinoor Karishma from the outside and travelled the better to wrap it up. Kohinoor Karishma kept up the chase but had to settle for the second place. Globetrotter was third all the way and finished that way.

Trainer N.Ravinder Singh who took up to training from this season has been having a good run. He saddled a back to back double through Royal Rajkumari and Without Makeup, both ridden by Ajit Singh. Royal Rajkumari (Ravel-Speed Mistress) who is in top form this season won its third straight win in the Hovercraft Plate. Malkeye Ziba set out in the lead followed closely by City Of Destiny, Matica and Garib Parwar. Royal Rajkumari had settled down to run fifth. On entering the straight City Of Destiny was the first to tackle the leader and Royal Rajkumari was brought into contention from the extreme outside. The 4 years old filly accelerated readily and sped past the front runners to score a hat-trick. Pamella surged in late to take the second spot ahead of City Of Destiny and Garib Parwar.

Without Makeup (Green Coast-Passion In The Park) scored a stunning win in the Fire Arch Plate. Into the last 300 metres Without Makeup was still in second last even as Pixie Girl, Ruby’s Gift and Platinum were fighting out almost in a line in front. Without Makeup started to cover ground from the outside and with a powerful gallop came tearing down to beat Ruby’s Gift in the shadow of the winning post. Pixie Girl finished third and Platinum fourth.

L.D’Silva trained Magnum (Green Coast-Okati Okati Okati) pulled off an upset in a pulsating finish in the Red Blaze Plate. Cashel led the field followed by Prep One and Magnum followed by the rest. Inside the last 300 metres Magnum surged ahead to take up the running and the favourite Elegant Simplicity came charging from the inside. The two went past the winning post together and looked to be the favourite to have prevailed to the naked eye but Magnum had held on by the proverbial whisker when the results of the photo finish came in. Ikigai and Cashel finished third and fourth respectively.
