SANS PEUR POCKETS MELBOURNE RACING CLUB TROPHY

Sans Peur (P Trevor Up), winner of the Melbourne Racing Club Trophy

S.S.Attaollahi trained Sans Peur (Admiralofthefleet-Sans Peril / Kunigal Stud) cruised home in the Melbourne Racing Club Trophy, a terms race for Fillies and Mares, 3 year olds and upward. Of the three that lined up for the seven furlongs trip two had come down from Bangalore.

Supreme Fairy set out in front followed by Sans Peur and Super Force. As they began to turn for home Sans Peur travelling on tight reins moved around the leader and forged ahead effortlessly. Inside the last 300 metres Super Force moved to second. Jockey Trevor gave a tap to Sans Peur and the four years old filly stretched out easily to complete her mission. Super Force finished second and Supreme Fairy was faraway third.

Anupam Sharma trained Princess Hina (Royal Gladiator-Camarero) turned out to be the biggest upset of the day, paying a whopping dividend of Rs.660 for a fiver on win in the K.Srinivas Reddy Memorial Cup. Princess Hina showed early speed to rush to the front from an outward draw. Leading all the way the filly came in first with City Of Wonders looking to be the only challenger. The two fought for a brief while and Princess Hina forged ahead by a length at the finish. Mangalyaan finished third and Lavender was fourth.

Jockey Akshay Kumar rode a back to back double on Canberra and Nelly. S.S.Faisal Hassan trained Canberra (Sedgefield-Sparklingchampagne / AB Stud) won the Red Surprise Cup. Ice Cave went on a start to finish bid over the mile trip but was out of steam on top of the straight. Exclusive Beauty took over the running and Canberra improved through the field to challenge the leader. Inside the last 150 metres Canberra travelled the better to storm home and draw clear. Exclusive Beauty stayed on in second followed by Vijay Vidyut and Danielle.

Akshay then drove home Arjun Anne’s Nelly (opportunist-Galloping Fantasy) to a comfortable maiden win in the division I of the Classic Story Plate. Nelly took a smart jump from draw one and rushed to the front. Rohini soon headed past and Nelly settled in second. On entering the straight Nelly gathered momentum to regain the lead and kicked on to win it from Tricky Star. Rohini took the third spot and Citi Colors was fourth.

L.D’Silva’s Chinese Thought (Chinese Whisper-Pearls Of Thought) justified the favouritism in the lower division. Inside the last 300 metres Yes Baby and Cashel were fighting it out. Ikigai put in a good run to go ahead with 150 metres left and Chinese Thought also started charging from the outside. Chinese Thought sped past Ikigai in the closing stages and spared half a length at the finish. Yes Baby and Cashel finished third and fourth respectively.

D’Silva’s Coral Springs (Ace-Orient Dance / Poona Stud) managed to edge out the well backed stable mate Golden Phoenix in the division II of the Bhagyanagar Cup. The favourite Golden Phoenix was on the right track taking over the running from Beauty Flash on top of the straight. Coral Springs set out to chase with Kohinoor Punch and Naamdhari also closing up. The four of them rushed towards the winning post in a cluster and Coral Springs got the nod from Golden Phoenix at the wire to score an encore. Kohinoor Punch and Naamdhari finished third and fourth respectively, in the same photo.

M.Srinivas Reddy trained Dahlois (Dancing Forever-Maid Of Artois) who is in great heart this season won its third straight win in the opener of the day, the Sardar Patel Plate. Nautanki showed some urgency and rushed to go to the front passing the 800 metres board and came into the straight with a lead of about four lengths. The on-money favourite also made a quick move to be in chase. Dahlois started to bridge the gap inside the last 200 metres and with a final thrust gave the charge in the last 50 metres to snatch the race away from Nautanki on the last stride. Upon A Star was a faraway third.

Laxman Singh’s Vijay’s Empire (Princely Heir-Royal Tartan) opened her account in the higher division of the Grand Entry Plate. Fantastic Nine took a long lead as they settled down and Vijay’s Empire was well in second. Even before turning for home Fantastic Nine went miles wide and Vijay’s Empire slipped into the lead. Inside the last 200 metres Full Of Life came up with a challenge but Vijay’s Empire stuck to her task and stayed well in front. Sensational Girl and Sefarina finished third and fourth respectively.

T.Srinagesh trained Jem Star (Charmo-Jazzego) who was winless from 15 starts came good to win the lower division. Improving gradually as they set out for the mile trip Jem Star was out in front passing the 1000 metres board. On the straight Cirillo started to challenge but Jem Star galloped well under Kiran Naidu to pull it off by a length. Touch Of Gold finished third in front of Captain General.
