The consistent Good Fortune (Total Galler-Welcome Back / Badal Stud) that has never finished off the money in its career spanning over nine starts made it a start to finish affair in the Urs Kar Trophy, a sprint event for horses rated 60 and above that featured Thursday’s races at Mysore. The bay colt trained by B.Prithviraj was rushed to the front by Prashant P Dhebe as the gates opened. Into the home stretch Good Fortune enjoyed a leeway of over three lengths and carried that till the finish. Topspot chased the winner right through the race to be the runner-up. The favourite Sir Majestic rallied on along the fence to finish third while Saladin filled the frame. Top Striker was withdrawn near the gates.

Shan Ben Ari (Win Legend-Integra / Dashmesh Stud) was the most impressive winner of the day. The 3 years old filly that had shed her maiden ranks in its last run at Bangalore was brought here in pink of condition by trainer G.Nithyanand for the W.T.Craig Jones Memorial Trophy. Sent off as the favourite at 6-4, Shan Ben Aari raced in fourth while Arrive led the field followed by Duke Of Clarence and Golden Bow. As they showed up on the straight Golden Bow rushed to take it up but surrendered the lead meekly when Shan Ben Aari came with a rattle from behind. The winner was sighted long way from home and the filly was eased up well before the winning post by Arshad Alam. Calico Jack did well to beat the rest and be the runner-up ahead of Duke Of Clarence and Golden Bow.

Another facile performer of the day was Darius Byramji trained youngster Emperador (Multidimensional-Burooq / Usha Stud) in the higher division of the One Life To Love Plate, the concluding race of the day. Jockey Y.S.Srinath who has found his magical touch of late guided Emperador towards the inner rails from the outermost draw to hit the front. Emperador was in total control all the way and won by over five lengths from Sang Royal who made a futile bid on the straight. Opening Act and Secret Prayer filled the frame in that order.

Srinath had earlier in the day ridden Vikram Appachu trained Amazing Connection (Alnasr Alwasheek / Yeravada Stud) to victory in the Lalithamahal Plate. The 4 years old filly set out on a start to finish bid close to the rails. Approaching the last furlong Amazing Connection started to drift out of the straight course despite Srinath using the stick from the left and trying his best to keep her straight. Bold Police and Miss International began to cover ground from the wide outside and the latter came flying towards the finish. Amazing Connection held on by a neck from Miss International at the finish. Bold Police was third another length and a quarter adrift. Skyjet finished fourth.

Trainer Sharat Kumar had a profitable day, sending out three winners from the stable. Shivalik Girl (Rebuttal-Hiddenaway / Hazara Stud) opened her account in a thrilling finish in the lower division of the One Life To Love Plate. Leptis Magna who was ridden by Suraj Narredu in place of P.Trevor took over the running from Break On Thru inside the last furlong. Shivalik Girl moved to second and took some time to pick up speed but once she did, came with a flying finish to down Leptis Magna in the shadow of the winning post. Jockey Janardhan Paswan had a pleasant surprise piloting a double. Elegant Star finished in the money ahead of Break On Thru.

Sharat picked up both the divisions of the Chirapunji Plate. King Smile (Top Class-Enchanting Girl / Mukteshwar Stud) opened its account in the higher division. King Smile sent off as an on-money favourite found itself in front as the gates opened. Carrying the top weight of 62.5 kilograms King Smile settled in third when Mckenzie and Goddess Of Love surged ahead. Straightening up for home John rode King Smile close to the rails and with a challenge forged ahead of Mckenzie. Amazing Khodal finished in the money and Active Grey filled the frame.

Waiting For Glory (Senure-Warrior Queen / Amanali Stud) that had not made it to the board in all its 10 starts finally came good to win the opener of the day, the lower division. Churchill went to the front as they settled down and Waiting For Glory moved well to track the leader followed by the rest. Inside the last 400 metres jockey Prashant P Dhebe pushed Waiting For Glory to grab the lead and kicked on till the winning post. On Her Own and Veda finished second and third respectively while Shoot Out ending up fourth after chasing the winner on the straight. High Profile that went to the gates as the favourite was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.

Tax Free (New Famous-Sassy Girl / Nakul Stud) from the stables of Azhar Ali pulled off a stunning upset under Janardhan Paswan in the Fleet Indian Plate, a 1200 metres sprint for maiden 3 years old. Shooting ahead as the gates opened Tax Free got to the front and opened a lead of over two lengths from the short priced favourite Cape Cross. Inside the last 400 metres Tax Free continued to gallop freely in front even as Suraj Narredu started to ride out Cape Cross vigorously. Tax Free kicked on to spare a length to the favourite at the finish. Carinosa and Find finished third and fourth respectively.
