Trainer Ranjeet Shinde (Deputising trainer Darius Byramji) leading Arizona (Irvan Singh Up), winner of The Sardar K.B.Ramachandraraj Urs Memorial Cup

Darius Byramji trained Arizona (Burden Of Proof-Arizza / Kunigal Stud) who was only in her second start pulled off a surprise in the Sardar K.B.Ramachandraraj Urs Memorial Cup that featured Thursday’s races at Mysore. The field for the five and a half furlongs scurry for maiden 3 years old was reduced to ten runners with the withdrawal of Red Galileo and Romantic Helen. Red Galileo refused to get loaded into the float at Bangalore and was scratched. Romantic Helen left the paddock as the piping hot favourite but was withdrawn near the gates on veterinary grounds after being trotted.

Filmscript landed up as the favourite among the ten that lined up for the race. The filly had good speed to get to the front as the gates opened. Scrpene and Stella Mari raced close behind and Arizona was another two lengths behind in fourth. Filmscript showed up first on the straight and Arizona took the shortest way to move up to be on its haunches. Inside the last furlong Arizona picked up momentum and sped past Filmscript to land the spoils. One Step Ahead flashed on late to finish a close third. Cashmere ended up fourth.

Imtiaz Khan trained Madame Bovary (Crown Jewel-Genesis / Noble Stud) that had found one better in its previous three starts came good to pull it off in the higher division of the Alekona Trophy. Madame Bovary settled well behind the leader Moroccan as they raced for the seven furlongs trip. Royal Defence was a close third followed by Real Steel and the rest. Madame Bovary took the first initiative on the straight and forged ahead. Royal Defence was in hot chase but finding Madame Bovary going well shifted towards the inside. From the inside Royal Defence began to close in but Madame Bovary hit the winning post first half a length ahead. Real Steel finished third another neck away. Cool Baby filled the frame.

Jockey Prashant P Dhebe who is riding with great success pulled off another treble. Czar Rule, First Step and Drops Of Jupiter were his winners. Rajesh Narredu trained Czar Rule (Declaration Of War-Minivet / Lingwood Stud) won the lower division of the Alekona Trophy. Crown Emperor set off in front with Czar Rule and Color Me racing close behind. Turning for home Color Me took the advantage from the outside and Czar Rule forced its way between horses and grabbed the lead. Staying ahead from thereon Czar Rule won comfortably. Golden Diamond took some time to get into rhythm but once it picked up momentum, moved to finish second. Wings Of Fortune was finishing on towards the rails to be third ahead of I Smile.

B.Prithviraj trained First Step (Ivory Touch-Cimmaron / Mare Haven Stud) won the Ranganathittu Plate. On a start to finish bid Red Admiral came in first on the straight. Love Is Life who was improving all the way started to challenge from the outside with Beauty Is Truth fighting hard in-between. Dhebe pulled out First Step to make a run widest of all and the 5 years old travelled the best of the lot to swoop on the front runners and draw clear. Love Is Life ended up second ahead of Red Admiral and Beauty Is Truth.

With Benedetta who had a fall in the saddling enclosure being withdrawn on veterinary grounds, Drops Of Jupiter (Rebuttal-Anacita / Hazara Stud) went into the Kurukshetra Plate as the on-money favourite. Mother Ewa and Diamond Attraction led the field together and had broken into a six lengths lead approaching the last 600 metres. Jockey Prashant P Dhebe realized the urgency and started riding out Drops Of Jupiter to cover the leeway. With 300 metres left Drops Of Jupiter surged ahead to get to the front and held on by a neck from Italian Stallion who came in late. Mother Ewa stayed on in third while Nenitara took the fourth spot.

Jockey S.John gave a perfect ride on Sharat Kumar’s Emancipation (Mr.Mellon-Crème Brulee / Ruia Stud) to win the opener, the Valarosa Plate.  Entering the straight Strive And Serve showed up first but was soon headed by Erebus. Emancipation improving its position gradually as they rounded the final turn was alighted to the task by John approaching the 300 metres and the 6 years old responded readily to shoot to the lead and go away. Summer Star who was still in second last position on top of the straight came with a long stretched run to take the second place ahead of Strive And Serve. Extremely Dangerous finished fourth.

Trainer Bipin V Salvi sent out winners in both the divisions of the Papanashini Plate. Castlebar (Holding Court-Whisper City / Broadacres Stud), a winner two weeks ago scored an encore in the higher division. Chase The Ace was well ahead of Aliboxer rounding for home with Castlebar chasing them in third. Mid-way up the straight Castlebar galloped strongly from the outside and drew away to win by a lengthening margin after assuming command near the distance post. Aliboxer managed to beat Chase The Ace for the second place.

Masteroftherolls (Declaration Of War-Absolute Faith / Chhatari Stud) who had won only on debut in its seven starts was backed to the exclusion of the other runners in the lower division. Jockey Srinath had the favourite in mid-field till the last 600metres. Improving quickly rounding the turn Masteroftherolls moved to striking position and shot to the front on top of the straight. Catharsis chased the winner all through the straight to land the second place. Delebration finished in the money ahead of Ireland.
