KOLORS PREVAILS IN A BLANKET FINISH IN THE MAIN EVENT

L.V.R.Deshmukh trained Kolors (Phoenix Tower-Krasnaya / Manjri Stud) scraped through to lift the Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Memorial Cup in a blanket finish involving four horses. Aventus led the pack as they set out for the seven furlongs trip followed by Kolors, Vijay Viraaj, Carlton, The Healer, Happy Guy and Woman O War. Into the final straight the lead of Aventus was cut down with Kolors closing up. The Healer was getting stronger from the outside and Vijay Viraaj moving between horses. Aventus weakened in the last 50 metres and Woman O War was flying from the rear. The four of them headed almost together towards the winning post and Kolors with apprentice Rafique Sk edged out Vijay Viraaj by a neck at the wire. The Healer and Woman O War ended up third and fourth respectively in the same photo.

Ananta Vatsalya’s youngster Amorous White (Stern Opinion-Adios Meadowlake) won the Youngsters Plate in a very impressive fashion by a lengthening margin. The grey colt had finished second on the last day of monsoon and was sent off as the half money favourite for the 1100 metres dash. Shooting ahead as the gates opened Amorous White led all the way and extended the lead on the straight to over seven lengths. Sweetie Pie was in chase throughout and finished second. Reach The Heights and Juneau filled the frame in that order.

R.H.Sequeira trained Altruist (Gaswar-Speed Mistress) opened its winter campaign with a win in the division I of the own Opinion Plate. Symbol Of Choice went on a start to finish bid over the 1100 metres scurry. Altruist was racing towards the rear in about seventh till the top of the straight. The 5 year old started to cover places with Trevor riding out and flashed pasd Symbol Of Choice in the last 100 metres to pull it off by a length. Oathofyourdaughter finished third ahead of Exclusive Beauty.

M.Sathyanarayana trained Wind Zoom (Tariq-Mathematica) came with a sizzling gallop to win the lower division. The favourite Symbol Of Pride had taken charge passing the 300 metres and was looking to pull it off when Wind Zoom came flying from the rear and sped past all those runners in front. Dancing Farha weaved through to sneak in along the inner rails to be second from Symbol Of Pride and Staying The Best in a close finish.

Suraj Narredu rode K.S.V.Prasad Raju’s 3 years old bay filly Ruby’s Gift (Ontario-Ruby Queen) to a facile win in the higher division I of the Adolfito Plate. After a good jump Suraj settled Ruby’s Gift in third when Seven Colours and River Chimes raced ahead. Ruby’s Gift got closer to Seven Colours inside the last 300 metres and timing his run well went past with 100 metres left from the finish. Vijay’s Empress finished third and Queen To Rule ended up fourth.

Anupam Sharma’s Green Striker (Sedgefield-Casanova Green) put in a bold show to pull it off in the lower division. The filly shot to the front at start and stayed well ahead of the rest entering the home stretch. Olympic Hero picked up momentum inside the last furlong and came challenging from the outside but Green Striker held on by a slender margin at the finish. Composure after being in the reckoning on the straight finished third in front of Dragonstone.

Trainer L.D’Silva saddled a straight double through Grand Canyon and Golden Image. Grand Canyon (Danehill Star-Lenavi) was ridden well by apprentice A.A.Vikrant to win the Bhadrachalam Cup. Racing in about sixth till entering the straight Grand Canyon galloped closest to the rails and sneaked through to grab the lead with 100 metres left. Brilliant, Ice Barrier and Vijay Vidyut filled the frame in that order.

Golden Image (Golden Coast-Above The Line) scored a maiden win in the division I of the Recommender Plate, the concluding race of the day. Racing second or third last till the last 600 metres Golden Image started to move up from the outside and took the turn wide. The 3 years old started to gain ground from the wide outside and Man Of The Series also challenging well inside the last furlong. The two matched strides and Golden Image prevailed by quarter of a length at the finish. General Salute and Cannon Hope finished third and fourth respectively n a close finish.

Laxman Singh trained Chester (Mull Of Kintyre-Sexy Gay) opened its account in the lower division after a keen duel with New Comer. Chester settled to be a close third behind Prep One and New Comer. Prep One lost out in the last 150 metres and Chester was left out to fight it out with New Comer. After a tussle throughout the last 100 metres Chester edged out New Comer by a neck. Prep One stayed on in third ahead of Dawning Hope.
