SEA FAIREY WINS THE CHIEF JUSTICE TROPHY

Trainer SS Attaollahi leading Sea Fairey (Suraj Narredu Up) winner of the Chief Justice Trophy

S.S.Attaollahi trained Sea Fairey (Multidimensional-Sea Princess / Usha Stud) registered a facile victory in the Chief Justice Trophy, a sprint event for horses rated 86 and above that featured Sunday’s races at Hyderabad. Vijay’s Joy who loves to race in front rushed ahead as the gates opened. Vijay Vidhata chased in second and jockey Suraj Narredu settled the fancied Sea Fairey in third followed by the rest. Inside the last 300 metres Sea Fairey started to make her ground between the duo in front and went clear. Vijay’s Joy held on in second with Vijay Vidhata following in third.

K.R.K.Raju trained Kohinoor Grace (Eljohar-Lady Counsel) scored the biggest upset of the day in the Elusive Hero Plate. The 5 years old had not won a race after its hat-trick performance last winter. Apprentice Kunal Bunde took the speedy Kohinoor Grace to the lead from the innermost draw as the gates opened. Into the straight Kohinoor Grace held on stubbornly in front even as Camborne made a strong bid through the rails. As the two approached the winning post Oathofyourdaughter and Symbol Of pride flashed on from the outside to finish second and third respectively in a close finish.

Debutant Chase Your Dreams (Excellent Art-Star Goddess) from trainer Laxman Singh’s yard scored a runaway victory in the Nagarjuna Sagar Plate. The youngster sent off as the firm favourite for the 1100 metres dash went to the front as the gates opened and extended the lead to over seven lengths after leading all the way. Jockey Deep Shanker had the luxury of looking back inside the last furlong and easing up well before the winning post. Jumeira Express chased the leader all the way and held on to the second place from Sweet Pistol. Sharp Eye took the fourth spot.

Trainer M.Srinivas Reddy’s Cash Landing (Hymn-Code Red) scored an encore in the higher division of the Ardent Knight Plate. It was a thrilling three way photo finish in the scurry. Amazing Venus and Born To Do It raced together till the last 200 metres and the former travelled the better thereon. Cash Landing began to gain ground and surged ahead with 50 metres left from the finish and as she headed towards the winning post Patron Saint and King David came flying from the rear to finish second and third respectively. Amazing Venus was pushed back to be fourth.   

The lesser fancied Seven Colours (Hymn-Great Colors) from Anupam Sharma’s stables managed to snatch the win from companion and favourite Bharat Queen in the lower division. Bharat Queen went on a start to finish bid. Bouncer chased till the top of the straight and gave up. Seven Colours began to challenge inside the last 400 metres and collared the stable companion in the last few strides of the race. Manoveg finished third and Poll Promise fourth.

K.Satheesh trained Ice Cave (Selkirk-West With The Wind) went on a start to finish bid and comfortably made it to the winning post from the stable-mate Trustful in the Srinivasa Sadagopa Sharma Memorial Cup. Save The Nation and Romantic Fire finished third and fourth respectively.

Zoheb Shaikh trained Nautanki (Abbeyside-Prize Magic) opened its account in the Vegavathi Plate, the first race of the day. Magical Skill led the field early with Monte Rosa in close attendance. Nauntaki raced third followed by the rest. On the straight the leader weakened and Monte Rosa surged ahead. Suraj Narredu started to work on Nautanki and the gelding responded readily to grab the lead and race away by over three lengths. Monte Rosa held on in second from Ashwa Ashoka and Darakshan Setarah.
