ENGLAND SCRAPES THROUGH TO WIN THE MAIN EVENT

Trainer LVR Deshmukh leading England (S Zervan Up), winner of The Time And Place Plate

L.V.R.Deshmukh trained England (Phoenix Tower-Euro Star/Manjri Stud) scraped through to lift the Time Plate from Ashwa Raftar. The public rage England chased the leader Baazigar till the top of the straight and then surged ahead. Ashwa Raftar started to gain ground from the outside and the two pulled away from the rest. Ashwa Raftar was inching closer with every stride inside the last 100 metres but England managed to hold on to the lead by the shortest possible margin. O Ms Akilah finished a faraway third.

Trainer Anupam Sharma led in Western Wind (West Virginia-Miraflores) to a popular win in the Mir Fazilath Hussain Memorial Cup. Little Smart Heart led the field from the start with Green Image in close attendance. Western Wind raced a close third followed by the rest. As they rounded the final bend Little Smart Heart and Green Image went a bit wide and grabbing the opportunity Western Wind took the gap along the rails and sneaked through. In the final furlong Western Wind drew clear even as Wonder Eye galloped to take the second place ahead of Green Image. Little Smart Heart filled the frame.

K.Satheesh schooled Meritocracy (Excellent Art-Mawaheb) won impressively on debut in the Medak Plate. After being prominent in third early on Meritocracy fell back to be last. As they turned for home jockey P.S.Chouhan guided Meritocracy through the shortest way and the filly went smoothly to get to the front and draw clear. Vancouver rallied on in second while On The Fire after calling the shots till the last 500 metres ended up third. Top Starchy finished fourth.

Crown Royal (Multidimensional-Wave Of Bliss / Usha Stud) from trainer Laxman Singh’s stables did well to win the Soviet Star Plate. Crown Royal jumped out first from the gates but settled in second when Modern Sniper showed some intent to go to the front. Crown Royal regained the lead passing the 600 metres and stayed well in front all the way till the finish. Exclusive Beauty was in chase inside the last 300 metres to take the second spot ahead of the fancied Khoshgel. Lopamudra ended up fourth.

Zoheb Shaikh trained Agusta Bombshell (Admiralofthefleet-Sea Gazer / Kumigal Stud) came with a big gallop in the last furlong to win the higher division of the Bhagmati Cup. Dolce came into the home stretch first with the fancied Astra ready to pounce from the outside. Agusta Bombshell racing in sixth all the way started cover ground from the extreme outside and joined the fighting duo near the distance post. Agusta Bombshell travelled the best of the lot and stretched out well to go away and win by two lengths. White Gold came in late to beat Astra to the third place.

M.Srinivas Reddy trained Market Leader (China Visit-Only Royale) who is in top form scored her fourth win from five starts in the lower division. Shooting to the lead from an outward draw Market Leader went on a start to finish bid over the seven furlongs trip. Perfection came up fast towards the closing stages but Market Leader held on by the proverbial whisker. Hard Fought and Rose ‘D’ Mumtaz finished third and fourth respectively, in a close finish.

On a day dominated by fancied horses Sk Kassam’s My Choice (Oath-Overdrive / AB Stud) pulled off an upset in the Bhongir Plate, the concluding race of the day. Chasing the leader Sefarina till entering the straight My Choice started to throw a challenge. While My Choice surged ahead inside the last 150 metres Full Of Life charged in to take the second place ahead of Sefarina.
