Trainer Laxman Singh leading Southern Promise (Suraj Narredu Up), winner of The Juvenile Million

Laxman Singh trained Southern Promise (Multidimensional-Star Of China) started off her career in a spectacular fashion easily winning the Juvenile Million at Hyderabad. The filly raced to the front as the gates opened to cut the wind. Southern Promise was still in command as they headed past the distance marker and the filly stretched out further when Suraj Narredu gave her a couple of cracks. Vancouver finished second for the second time while debutant Eternal Angel finished a close third.

Anupam Sharma trained Ashwa Raftar (Sedgefield-Slam Strike / Jai Gobind Stud) that had found one better in its last four starts was the overwhelming favourite to get the 1200 metres trip in the Hi Tech Plate. The chestnut gelding did not disappoint its supporters this time and made it a start to finish affair. Altruist after racing in close attendance started to work hard on the straight but the winner was hard to get and had to settle for the second place. King Of Pop and O Ms Akhila finished third and fourth respectively.

Anupam had earlier saddled Western Wind (west Virginia-Miraflores) to a popular victory in the Mica Empress Cup. Apprentice B.R.Kumar rode a confident race on the 4 years old bay colt. Kalinda went on a start to finish bid and was clear by over two lengths as they moved into the final furlong. Western Wind racing in fifth till the bend took the shortest way and moved quickly to get behind the leader. Western Wind quickened nicely inside the last 100 metres and sped past Kalinda with the rider still holding his mount on a tight rein. Agusta Bombshell finished third ahead of Charming Beauty.

Apprentice Kumar rode M.Srinivas Reddy’s General Salute (Stern Opinion-Stroke Of luck) to complete his double in the division I of the Flying Treasure Plate. Ayur Jyothi and General Salute started to make their move at the same juncture on the straight and went past the leader Cannon King. The two almost brushed each other with Ayur Jyothi leaning out but General Salute stuck to its task and surged ahead to score its maiden win. Ayur Jyothi rallied on in second while Shandaar and Cirillo filled the frame in that order.

The lower division was won by S.S.Faisal Hassan trained Darakhshan Setarah (Rebuttal-Air Star). Racing in about fourth Darakhshan Setarah began to move up from the outside and Dawning Hope slipped in through the rails to challenge. Darakhshan Setarah travelled the better and drew clear to earn its first win. Dawning Hope stayed on in second while Samba was a faraway third. Prep One finished fourth.

Ananta Vatsalya trained Amorous White (Stern Opinion-Adios Meadowlake) outclassed the on-money favourite Fashion High to score its second successive win in the Onnu Onnu Onnu Plate. Leading right from the word ‘go’, the grey colt quickened well in the last furlong and kicked on by a length and a half. Fashion Flame could only head past Gladstone to be the runner-up. Arc Of History finished fourth.

The speedy Masti (Echo Of Light-Mustarde) from L.V.R.Deshmukh’s stables scored an easy win in the Dr.S.R.Captain Memorial Cup. The filly took off well from the outermost draw and settled behind the leader Kohinoor Grace. On entering the straight jockey Akshay Kumar found it prudent to take the widening gap along the inside and guided Masti towards it. Masti quickened readily and surged ahead easily and kicked on till the winning post. Oh Dear only managed to beat Kohinoor Grace for the second place. Aakash Vani filled the frame.

N.Ravinder Singh trained Scooby Dooby Doo (Roi Maudit-Flaming Ruby) pulled off a big upset in the division I of the Ming Dynasty Plate. Ragas Ajalias went on a start to finish bid and was up there in front till the last 100 metres. Nearing the winning post four horses came charging towards the leader and Scooby Dooby Doo who covered the most ground beat them all to win it from Ikigai, Vijays Honour and Bharat Queen.

Another longshot Queen To Rule (Hammerstein-Accentuate) from T.Srinagesh’s stables won the lower division. Chasing Born To Do It till the last 200 metres Queen To Rule quickened nicely to surge past and won warding off the late bid of Vijay’s Dynamite. Born To Do It ended up third with Act In Time finishing fourth.
