KING CREDIBLE SCORES AN INCREDIBLE VICTORY

By Epsom Ace | 29 Nov 2016 | KOLKATA

Trainer Bharath Singh leading King Credible (TS Jodha Up), winner of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy

Not surprisingly, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy for two-year-olds produced the biggest upset of the day as Bharat Singh-trained King Credible (Eljohar-Real Queen/ Mukteshwar Stud ) made every post a winning one in the hands of TS Jodha. The full-brother of sprinter King Kong is just as big made as his sibling and his runaway tactics left the others floundering. Fashionably bred Sana lost some ground at the start and yet finished a fair third while the colt Panchovilla made a late bid to secure second honours.

Jockey Suraj Narredu was in his element when he secured a difficult double with Top Cat and Arctic Convoy. Farley Rodrigues-trained Top Cat (Rip Van Winkle – Closing Bell) was ridden off the pace on this occasion (possibly because of his crushing impost) and moved with giant strides in the straight to sail past Cool Conqueror. I Told You Know finished on second from the rear.

Arctic Convoy made every post a winning one in the lower division of the Ardiles Handicap. The favourite was however strongly challenged by Spear of Trium (Trevor up) and held onto her narrow advantage My Lady Luck ran a good race but was squeezed for room along the rails and had to switch course mid-way up the straight.

Jockey Dashrath Singh atop Vijay Singh-trained Splash Proof (Whatsthescript-Splash of Class) controlled the pace of the race from the outset to make every post a winning one in the mile event for the Bright Law   Handicap. The favourite Rewalding was a poor fourth.

Trainer Narendra Lagad opened his account at this centre when Dashrath completed his brace with top-weight Dragon Of War (Phoenix Tower-Merwaha/ Manjri Stud) who made every post of the upper division of the Ardiles Handicap a winning one. Bacaardi and Treasure Island filled the minor berths.

Trainer Vijay Singh’s Celerino (Arazan-Chantale)  pulled off a good gamble for the connections when he won the opener of the day – The Advisor Handicap, without too much trouble. Apprentice Munna Alam did well to position his mount early behind front-running West Cape  and then sailed away in the straight.

Jockey PS Chouhan scored an impressive victory astride Winning Fortune in the seven furlong race for The Sunbird Handicap. The four-year-old filly by Oath out of Moneypenny  (Pratap Stud) returned to winning ways when she quite easily accounted for the favourite Tweedle Dee who seemed to be at a considerable disadvantage as he was placed in the outside draw in a field of 14 runners. Fire Song finished a surprise second in this race and may be worth keeping an eye on over six furlongs.

The curtain came down with Trevor Patel and Aquitania (Admiralofthefleet-Rhapsody In Blue/ Kunigal Stud) sealing a double for trainer Bharathj Singh. She got the better of Australian Agatta and Annie Oakley in the race for the Predator Handicap.
