Mr Sarosh Mody & trainer M Eshwer leading Pacquiao (KG Steyn Up), winner of The D.V.Vishwanath Memorial Trophy Div-1

Michael Eshwer trained Pacquiao (Arabian Gulf-Meadowlark / Manjri Stud) scored a thumping victory in the D.V.Vishwanath Memorial Trophy, the feature of Wednesday’s races at Mysore. Pacquiao had signed off the summer season here on a winning note and was rested throughout the Mysore main season. The youngest among the dozen runners in the field Pacquiao was installed as the on-money favourite for the sprint event.

Dare The Don hit the front early and brought them home followed by Dark William and Majestic Queen. Pacquiao raced in fourth followed by Praelector and the rest. Inside the last 400 metres Pacquiao started to gallop freely and grabbed the mid-way up the straight and stretched out effortelessly to win by a lengthening margin. Praelector held on to finish second from Lucky Pineapple. Abderus finished fourth.

Michael Eshwer trained Constantine (Holy Roman Emperor-Coconut Squeak / Manjri Stud) made a smashing return to form in the Wynad Forest Plate. Carrying the top weight of 60 kilos Constantine got off to a good start from the inside draw. Phelps was in second as they rounded the final turn followed closely by Fink, New World and Class Is Class. On the home stretch Constantine looked to be a class apart and stretched out easily to win by a lengthening margin. New World finished second ahead of Fink and Class Is Class.

It was a blanket finish in the lower division of the D.V.Vishwanath memorial Trophy with four horses going past the winning post in the same pictute frame. B.K.Narendra trained generous Gesture (Sharp Attack-Venturous / Gee Stud) that had lost the race in the Steward’s room in the last outing did well to pull it off. Skyjet came in first on the home stretch but was soon headed by Classic King from the inside and Aliboxer from the outside. Generous Gesture started to make a bid from the wide outside and swooping on the front runners, came flying to get the race close home. Classic King finished second while Aliboxer held on to the third place from Zagato who came flying to join the trio.

Tejaswi’s Albatross (Royal Gladiator-So Ravishing / Pratap Stud) that had beaten Generous Gesture in the Steward’s room last time scored an encore, this time on the track in the Pandavapura Plate. Albatross ridden by V.R.Jagadeesh showed its form in the higher class. Arrive in its customary fashion got to the front to cut the wind. Arrive was still ahead inside the last 150 metres with Malkia and Dhanyavaad getting closer. Albatross covered plenty of ground from behind and with a late rush collared Arrive in the shadow of the winning post. Malkia and Dhanyavaad finished a close third and fourth respectively in the same frame.

Tejaswi and V.R.Jagadeesh had earlier scored through Amazing (Abbeyside-Alflora / Sunder Stud)  in the lower division of the Bandipur Plate. The favourite Eloika showed plenty of early speed and headed to the front to lead. The filly came into the final straight with a lead of over four lengths. Racing in about fifth till the top of the straight.

P.C.Tejaswi’s ward Amazing began to devour ground from the wide outside and sped past Eloika in the dying moments of the race. Ice Weapon looked keen to gallop on the straight but with very feeble assistance from the saddle in a ‘no whip’ race the 7 years old could only finish third. Zoe filled the frame.

C.D.Monnappa trained Haloween’s Way (Lucifer Sam-Eagle Claws / Sans Craintes Stud) won the higher division of the race. Ephialties came in first on the straight hotly chased by Mother Ewa. Haloween’s way and Wolf Rock began to gain momentum inside the last furlong and surged past the duo in front inside the last 150 metres. After a keen duel Haloween’s Way travelled the better to pull off a popular win by three parts of a length. Ephialties and Mother Ewa finished third and fourth respectively.

Feroz Khan’s youngster Country’s Storm (Roi Maudit-Storm Command / Country Stud Farm) who had the benefit of a run won the Gonikoppa Plate. The filly shot to the lead as the gates opened and was in command throughout the 1100 metres trip. Six Ace Red moved to be second approaching the last 200 metres but Country’s Storm quickened inside the final stages to increase the lead to over four lengths. Velvet Rose finished third in front of Angel Guard. Nikka was troublesome in the saddling area and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.

Senator (Arabian Gulf-Sierra Vista / Manjri Stud) scored a maiden win in an impressive fashion in the K.R.S.Plate. Roi Junior rushed to the front as the gates opened and opened a good lead. Into the straight Roi Junior was in front by a clear five lengths and was looking to earn its maiden win but the 4 years old was soon out of steam and began to shorten its strides. G.T.Surender’s trainee Senator took advantage and slipped in along the rails and spurted out well to win it. Stride To Success rallied on to finish second ahead of Roi Junior. Neron finished fourth. Always Resolute was fractious in the gates and was withdrawn before the race.
