Jockey Sandesh urged Severus to go for it and the B Prakash ward unleashed a powerful run to storm past Commodore who had just taken charge. Commodore was accounted for with surprising ease and Severus romped home to win with a measure of comfort.

Sandesh had partnered Vulcan (Sedgefield - Shining Force, jai Govind Stud) to a hard fought victory that culminated in a thrilling four-way finish. June led until well into the straight with Vulcan looming large on the outside. Vulcan had barely taken the lead when Flying Dragon arrived with a strong challenge. Frosty too joined in while Eiger's Tiger was trying to slip through the rails. It looked a touch and go affair and Vulcan was in danger from all sides. However, Sandesh lived up to the challenge and stay ed ahead to nose the wire in a close finish.

Dark Gold (Green Coast - Aunt Dottie, (AB Stud) earned his maiden victory in the upper division of the Smart Chieftain Trophy with a good all round effort, improving from the rear to produce a nicely timed strong finish to beat more fancied runners. Wild Jack also had a good forward run, skipping into the lead early and coming into the stretch with a handy lead. Sporto gained momentum and got past Wild Jack and was shaping well. Favourite Lady In Red had traveled sweetly until the race got serious, but petered out tamely to end a listless fourth. Dark Gold was aggressive in his final finish and arrived with a sustained run to surge ahead past the distance post. He kicked on gamely to score well. Dark Gold fought back stubbornly to wrest the runner up slot pegging back Sporto.

Star Comrade claimed the lower division of the race in a hard fought battle with prime fancy Sovereignsky as both were engaged in a prolonged battle in the long straight. Sovereignsky shrugged off a slight violent start as the inside horse came outward denying him a clear passage and soon galloped to the front. Sovereignsky shaped up well for the final running as they turned for home, with only Star Comrade looking in contention. The Karthik ward drew from his experience and clawed closer to the leader with every stride and headed him with a furlong to go. Not one to give up easily, Sovereignsky fought back trying hard to wrest back the lost initiative and after a stretch of matching strides, it was Star Comrade who won it with a narrow margin.

Beach Game (Noverre - Bibi Karam, Bhaktawar Stud) was installed favourite mainly on his last run where he ended a good third. He justified that support by producing a scorching run in the final furlong to clinch the issue with a comfortable win. Wind Craft led the field into the straight and was galloping well. Seacrets came up to challenge and drew abreast with the leader, Beach Game meanwhile started to improve positions. Jockey Neeraj Rawal looked confident and in no hurry as he eased Beach Game to top speed and the Mansoor Shah ward sailed ahead in the last 50 m to score a solid victory.

Imperial Princess (Mull of Kintyre - Wishful Thinking, Amanali Stud) was perhaps the most fluent winner of the day. She floated into the lead soon on start and led them comfortably as they turned for home. The Altaf Hussain trainee surged further ahead on the homestretch and leaving nothing to chance sailed away from the rest scoring a robust victory with minimum effort. Apprentice Akshay Gaekwad just had to sit tight and guide the filly home and that is exactly what he did. Pure Sin ran on to finish second ahead of Synchronicity and Rachel.
