ADAM STAMPS AUTHORITY IN GOLCONDA MILLION

Pesi Shroff trained Adam (Multidimensional-Adesina / Usha Stud) returned to Malakpet to stamp its authority as a reputed sprinter while storming home in the Golconda Million, a terms race for horses 4 years old and upward. Four runners lined up for the start with the local challenger Vijays Joy getting the popular vote to be the favourite.

Vijays Joy showed plenty of early speed to set the ball rolling followed by Galiat, Adam and Satellite in that order, all of them covered within a little over three lengths. Vijays Joy tried hard to stay in front on the straight but Adam moved freely and forged ahead passing the distance post to win in a smart timing. Satellite beat the weakening Vijays Joy to be the runner-up.

L.V.R.Deshmukh’s Mr.Baahubali (Stern Opinion-Miss Langkawi) continued to dominate, completing a hat-trick in the division I of the Speaker’s Trophy. Mr.Baahubali was smartly out of the gates to track the early leader Numinous. Passing the 300 metres board jockey Y.S.Srinath started to use his hands and heels and the grey colt accelerated brilliantly to shoot ahead and scoot. Altruist chased the winner in the last 100 metres but lost out to Vallee Secrete in the closing stages. Mangalyaan ended up fourth.

Trainer Anupam Sharma was the start of the day saddling three winners all at nourishing odds. Symbol Of Pride (Hymn-Page Three) slammed the opposition in the division I of the G.V.Rao Memorial Cup. In a good clip as they turned for home Fair And Squre was in front with Sprint Legend, Military Cross and Symbol Of Pride lunging behind. Symbol Of Pride stormed from the outside to grab the lead and kicked on while Rock Heights who was hampered for a clear run along the inside finished on in second. Fair And Squre and Par Excellence finished third and fourth respectively.

The other two winners of Anupam were Exclusive Wind and Bharat King. Exclusive Wind (Ravel-Calliope) stopped the winning streak of Rahul’s Pet in the lower division of the Speaker’s Trophy. Rahul’s Pet and Advocate General rushed to the front and fought for the lead till turning for home. Exclusive Wind who was racing third about two lengths away took the path between them on the straight and shot ahead inside the last furlong even as Rahul’s Pet tried hard to keep the lead. City Of Wonders finished third in front of Sir Majestic.

Bharat King (Hymn-Broken Silence) had not won a race for almost 14 months but made every post a winning one in the Mountain Lilly Plate. Shooting to the front from the innermost draw Bharat King enjoyed a good lead till the last 100 metres and held on gamely from a fast finishing Sea Change. Island Bird rallied on in third while Azazil after chasing Bharat King till the straight ended up fourth. Back To Business was withdrawn before the race.

In a thrilling three way finish M.Sathyanarayana trained Exclusive Beauty (Sharp Attack-Golden Castle) pulled it off in the lower division of the G.V.Rao Memorial Cup. Catherine tried start to finish tactics over the 1100 metres scurry. Exclusive Beauty in chase started to close up with Astra also getting stronger. The three headed past the winning post together with Exclusive Beauty pulling it off by a short head from Astra. Catherine was third another neck behind.

R.H.Sequeira trained Bullish Approach (Whatsthescript-Contrarian) scored a maiden victory in the opening event, the Faluknuma Cup. Sir Walter Raleigh went on a start to finish bid and brought the field of six into the final straight. Hal Chal creeped up to the leader on the straight and headed past with 100 metres left from the finish. Bullish Approach had to be goaded by jockey P.Sai Kumar and the gelding bridged the gap and just about made it by a short head at the wire. Sir Walter Raleigh stayed on in third ahead of Vijay’s Harmony.

D.Netto schooled Big Heart (Western Aristocrat-Ciel Fleur) on a debut was installed as the on-money favourite for the Agostini Plate. The youngster shot to the lead as the gates opened and led all the way to win by a comfortable margin. Creator was in chase right from the start to be the runner-up. Lost And Found and Rutilant finished third and fourth respectively.

N.Ravinder Singh trained Raja Hindustani (Chevalier-Radical Velocity) pulled off a big upset in the Common Land Plate, the concluding race of the day. Symbol Of Gold was in the lead right from the word ‘go’ and was looking good inside the last furlong when Raja Hindustani came flying from the rear to snatch the race on the post. Ikigai and Al Sadr filled the frame in that order.
