J.Saravanan trained Galaxy Queen (Mull Of Kintyre-Premier Galaxy / Capricon Stud) who had a drought of wins for the last two years pulled a surprise in the Victory Zone Trophy, the main event of Wednesday’s races at Mysore. Storm Ahead was sent off as the favourite for the seven furlongs trip and the gelding was on the right course chasing the leader Sardinia. Galaxy Queen after rallying in fifth in the first two furlongs fell back to the last position and stayed there till the field straightened up. Once on the straight Storm Ahead was in hot chase of Sardinia and as the two fought Galaxy Queen came tearing down from the rear and swooped down on every horse in front to pull it off. Storm Ahead finished second three parts of a length behind while Sardinia ended up third. Chackaloochoo was troublesome in entering the gates and was withdrawn.

The 6 years old bay mare Kazuri (Glory Of Dancer-Dynasty / Sohna Stud) from trainer C.Girinath’s yard completed an encore in the Halebeedu Plate. Kazuri that had won in the lower class last time and survived an objection defied the penalty to score again over the seven furlongs distance. After a good jump Kazuri fought for its head early with Siddhani and Lucky Pineapple to take up the running. Inside the last 400 metres Gelignite started to challenge from the outside but Kazuri kicked on despite veering out again slightly to pull it off by a length. King Julien finished third while Extra Spark filled the frame.

With the assistance of some hard riding by Y.S.Srinath, Pratap Kamath trained Esoterical (Ajaad-Carra Mia / Kunigal Stud) won the division I of the Kovalam Plate. Coming towards the inside from the outermost draw Esoterical joined the front bunch to race in about seventh. On turning for home Golden Steps was the first to take the initiative and went for it. Esoterical moved alongside quickly and fighting hard, forged ahead by half a length. Coffee Time was off to a slow start once again but improved well to finish third. The favourite Precious Script could only finish fourth.

J.Saravanan trained Blackwind (Kingda Ka-Accumulate / Nanoli Stud) that had remained winless from 21 starts finally came out of the maiden ranks in the lower division. Neron went on a start to finish bid and brought the field on the straight. As Always looked for room to slip in along the rails even as Infinithoughts and Blackwind rallied strongly from the outside. With a furlong left Blackwind surged ahead and Infinithoughts chased her to the finish in second. Neron held on in third from As Always.

Trainer S.Rakesh saddled his solitary win of the day through Savannah Sound (Antonius Pius-Born Free / Pratap Stud) in the division I of the Kutta Plate. The only win of Savannah Sound was two years ago. Racing in fourth behind Moroccan, Dark William and Arrive, Savannah Sound breezed ahead on entering the straight. Bandito also moved well from behind to challenge but the winner kicked on by a comfortable margin. Azure Fire and Arrive finished third and fourth respectively.

Trainer P.C.Tejaswi led in a double. His ward Just By Chance (Placerville-Age Of Fable / Poonawalla Astonish Stud) that had shifted base from western India late last year won for the first time on this track in the lower division of the Kutta Plate. Majestic Queen in its usual fashion got to the front to lead. Just By Chance was close behind in chase right from the start. Inside the last 300 metres jockey V.R.Jagadeesh started to push Just By Chance hard and the 7 years old gelding picked up speed to head past the leader and win by a comfortable margin. Majestic Queen held on to the second place from Kentucky Rose while Tulip made it to the frame.

P.C.Tejaswi trained Diamond Attraction (Win Legend-Whispered Gossip / Ponderosa Stud) was full of running while winning the division I of the Splash Plate. Rushing to the front at start from an inward draw Diamond Attraction disputed the lead with Silver Oak till rounding the final bend. On straightening up Diamond Attraction pulled away from the pack and had a lead of over three lengths approaching the last 200 metres and that came in handy to reach the wire safely even as Platinum Pearl came with a powerful gallop from behind to finish second. In a close finish for the minor places Starstruck and Tobin finished third and fourth respectively.

Annonymous (Adler-Anonymity / Kunigal Stud) scored an upset win in the lower division. Jamais Vu got to the lead early and set off in front. On the straight Jamais Vu was still in front with Getafix and Samay Balwan working hard. The favourite Country’s Warrior was taking the shortest route and Anonymous was pulled outside for a clear run. As they came into the final furlong Anonymous breezed past Jamais Vu to score an upset. Ice Brown and Samay Balwan finished third and fourth respectively.
