Trainer Laxman Singh leading Chase Your Dreams (Y S Srinath Up), winner of The Darley Arabian Million (Gr.3)

Laxman Singh trained Chase Your Dreams (Excellent Art-Star Goddess) was ridden out by top pro Y.S.Srinath to hold on gallantly from Autocratic in the prestigious Darley Arabian Million (Gr.3) the feature of Monday’s races at Hyderabad. Four youngsters lined up for the terms race and the Bangalore challenger Autocratic was installed as the favourite with the local filly Kangra also receiving strong support after her runaway win on debut. Chase Your Dreams looking to complete a hat-trick was available at more nourishing odds.

Turf Star shot to the front as the gates opened but was headed by Chase Your Dreams within the first furlong. Kangra raced in third with Autocratic last of four. As they approached the final bend the order was the same with all four running within 3 1/2 lengths. Srinath pulled out the stick on Chase Your Dreams as he came into the final furlong even as Autocratic started to move up from the wide outside. The lead of Chase Your Dreams began to diminish in the last 100 metres with Autocratic ranging up but the hard riding of Srinath made sure that Chase Your Dreams touched the winning post a neck in front. Turf Star finished third another length away while Kangra ended up a tame fourth.

Anupam Sharma trained Ashwa Raftar (Sedgefield-Slam Strike / Jai Govind Stud)galloped well to score an encore in the Mysore Race Club Cup. The 4 years old took a good jump from the gates and moved towards the rails to lead the pack. O Ms Akhila in a change of tactics decided to get to the front as they went past the 800 metres board. Inside the last 300 metres Suraj Narredu started to work on the favourite Ashwa Raftar and the gelding responded readily to challenge the ‘Ms’ from the outside and kept her at bay till the finish. Mangalyaan was finishing on to be a close third. Kimono filled the frame.

Anupam had earlier started the day with his ward Al Sadr (Pinsone-Fascinating Lady) pulling off a maiden win in the Makalu Cup. Al Sadr that was going over the 2000 metres trip for the first time sat off the pace in sixth position for most part of the race. On entering the straight Own Battle with a slender advantage had Rose Eternal and Pentagon for company. Al Sadr made a swift move from around the field as the rounded the final bend and heading past the front runners took over the running soon and kicked on till the finish. Pentagon finished second ahead of Cannon Grey and Own Battle.

Trainer Laxman Singh and jockey Y.S.Srinath were earlier successful on the on-money favourite Secret Art (Arazan-Risada) in the Pleasure Hunt Plate. Secret Heart showed plenty of speed at start and rushed ahead to lead. Rohini joined from the outside and the two came in almost together on the straight. War Cry tried to force its way between the two on entering the straight. Secret Art and War Cry drew away from the rest and the former stayed ahead by three parts of a length as they went past the winning post. Mountain Of Light and In Command finished third and fourth respectively.

L.V.R.Deshmukh trained Coruba (New Famous-Metaxa) denied the favourite Elysian a win in the Attractress Plate. Elysian came in first on the home stretch and was looking good with a lead of over two lengths from Brilliant. Coruba began to gallop from the inside and with giant strides flew past Elysian inside the last 100 metres. Limitation charged in to finish a close third. Silvassa filled the frame.

Jockey P.Trevor rode out Sk Waseem Ahmed’s On The Fire (Sedgefield-Buenos Aires) to a surprise win in the Naloma Plate. On The Fire went on a start to finish bid over the 1200 metres sprint and held on by a head from the fast finishing Hope Is Eternal. Creator finished third and the favourite Desert Moon ended up fourth after chasing the winner till the last 200 metres.

Zoheb Shaikh trained Wonder Star (Varenar-Hi Fi) that had won last exactly a year ago wrapped up the Nelston Plate, the concluding race of the day. Turning for home Cruiser moved up from the outside to stake claim and Wonder Star was driven towards the path along the rails by A.M.Tograllu. Wonder Star stretched out well to pull it off by half a length from Cruiser. Racing Ruler finished third another length away while Golden Xanthus ended up fourth.
