K.S.V.Prasad Raju trained Lady In Lace (Chinese Whisper-Sea Spray) displayed tremendous acceleration while slamming the field in the Nawab Mir Musthaq Ali Khan Memorial Cup, the feature event of Sunday’s races at Hyderabad. Sent off at nourishing odds of 8-1 the filly was a bit lethargic at start and settled in the rear while Amorous White set out in front followed by Big Heart and the rest. Inside the last 300 metres Amorous White was challenged by the on-money favourite Big Heart but the grey continued to kick on. Lady In Lace had gradually moved up before turning for home and once on the straight began to unleash a gallop from the outside. Amorous White tried hard to hold on to the lead but Lady In Lace devoured ground and sped past to win by half a length. Big Heart was only third followed by Top Link.

Another 8-1 shot Without Makeup (Green Coast-Passion In The Park) from trainer Ravinder Singh’s yard pulled it off in the supporting event of the day, the P.E.Bapooji Memorial Cup. Ragas Ajalias that was looking to complete a hat-trick showed plenty of early speed and headed to the front while Without Makeup moved towards the inside from an outward draw and settled to run sixth. Inside the last 250 metres Ragas Ajalias was being challenged by Seven Colours and Paprika when Without Makeup weaved through them and surged clear. Seven Colours finished second ahead of Ragas Ajalias and Dream Girl.

The 6 year old Khosgel (Gaswar-Invitation Only) from the stables of S.S.Faisal Hassan was ridden ably by Akshay Kumar to lift the division I of the Brown Sugar Plate. Penumatcha’s Pride from the innermost draw rushed to take up the running followed by Bharat King, Byron Bay, Khosgel and the rest. On straightening for home Khosgel looked for a clear path from the outside even as Penumatcha’s Pride held the lead stubbornly. Khosgel covered ground and headed past the leader to score by three parts of a length. Grand Canyon that came up strongly from behind just managed to edge out Penumatcha’s Pride for the second place. Shivalik Bird filled the frame two lengths away. Wonder Eye was withdrawn near the gates.

S.A.Shehzad Abbas trained Dancing Farha (Dancing Forever-Farha) scored an upset victory in the lower division. The 6 years old that had not won for over a year now raced a handy third behind Kalinda and Time Is Luck as they turned for home. Approaching the last furlong Time Is Luck surged ahead to the front and Dancing Farha was pulled out a bit to make its move. Galloping strongly Dancing Farha forged ahead of Time Is Luck to hit the winning post a length in front. Legend and Golden Arrow finished third and fourth respectively.

Trainer Faisal Hassan had earlier in the day scored through Negress Pearl (Rebuttal-Ganga Purna) in the Armagnac Plate. The filly was smartly out of the gates and rushed ahead but decided to settle in second when Avantika ranged over from the outside to get to the lead. As they turned for home jockey Imran Chisty was quick to take Negress Pearl past Avantika and kicked clear to score an easy win. Mandy beat Avantika for the second place while Space Ship finished fourth.

M.Srinivas Reddy trained Manogamini (Stern Opinion-Sylvia Says) pulled it off by the shortest of margins in a three way finish in the division I of the Rocky Plate. Rapidest had assumed command early in the race and brought the field into view on the straight with a lead of over three lengths. Inside the last furlong Onk Onk Onk and Matica set to challenge the leader with the former shaping better. Manogamini piloted by Praveen Gaddam began to charge down from way behind on the extreme outside and got to put its nose in front at the all important end to beat Onk Onk Onk. Rapidest after leading all the way lost narrowly to be third. Matica finished on in fourth.

Rider Gaddam had earlier scored a comfortable win on M.Sathyanarayana trained Island Bird (Varenar-Metalique) in the division II of the race. Chasing the leader Dolce till into the last furlong, Island Bird took charge readily and stretched out to win impressively. The favourite Bouquet was only third in a close finish with Kiss N Chase.

Anupam Sharma trained Symbol Of Glory (Hymn-Jalapeno) sent off as the favourite in the division III just managed to edge out Racing Ikon. The trainer’s decision to claim an allowance of 3.5 kilograms with apprentice rider B.R.Kumar paid dividends as the 6 years old mare won by a whisker. Racing Ikon set out in front over the 1200 metres scurry followed closely by Symbol Of Glory. Symbol Of Glory moved alongside with 150 metres left from home but Racing Ikon was relentless and was stubbornly ahead. The two went past the winning post together and the magic eye gave the verdict in favour of Symbol Of Glory. Kireeti and Ashwini finished third and fourth respectively.

Trainer K.S.V.Prasad Raju ended the day with a double with his ward Golden Xanthus (Sharp Attack-Secret Wish) wrapping off the last race of the day, the Ballerina Star Plate. Cannon Hope had gone past the leader Buckshee inside the last 300 metres and Golden Xanthus rallied strongly from the outside and after matching strides for a brief while surged past to get there by three parts of a length. Green Memories was third many lengths away while Amaravathi ended fourth.
