Trainer Rakesh leading Sea Lagoon (G Sai Vamshi Up), winner of The Rajakumari Leelavathi Devi Memorial Trophy

S.Rakesh trained Sea Lagoon (Phoenix Tower-North Sea / Manjri Stud) bounced back to winning ways in the Rajakumari Leelavathi Devi Memorial Trophy, the feature of Wednesday’s races at Mysore. The 5 years old mare settled handily in third while Fink and Ancient Title disputed the lead. Rounding the final turn jockey G.Sai Vamshi found the gap along the rails opening up and guided Sea Lagoon towards it. Sea Lagoon found herself in front on top of the straight and despite drifting out slightly kept up the momentum to win easily. In a close finish for the minor places Fink emerged as the runner-up just ahead of Dragon and Sofast. The favourite Excelerate was under pressure on the straight and finished fifth.

Trainer Feroz M Khan and jockey Saddam Hussain combined to score a double through Ascendency and Sans Frontieres. Ascendency (Multidimensional-Star Supremacy / Usha Stud) got the Cochin Plate in the Stewards room. Markus Sittikus was the winner on the track beating Ascendency by three parts of a length. Marcus Sittikus went to the lead within the first furlong and led all the way. After passing the distance post the gelding started to shift out when the rider changed the whip to his right and Ascendency that was moving up from the outside was hampered for a clear run. An objection by the rider of Ascendency for severe interference in the last 200 metres was upheld and the order of placing reversed. Absolute Brave and Pikachu finished third and fourth respectively.

Sans Frontieres (Burden Of Proof-Sans Eagle / Kunigal Stud) came up with a renewed effort to edge out Veni Vidi Vici in the Bababudan Giri Plate. Sans Frontieres got to the front to lead within the first furlong of the race. Inside the last 300 metres Veni Vedi Vici came up with a good spurt andjoined up from the outside and looked to have an advantage. Jockey Saddam Hussain kept riding out Sans Frontieres along the rails and the 8 years old put in a renewed effort to edge out Veni Vedi Vici in the shadow of the winning post. Bold Police rallied on in third ahead of Carisa.

S.Rakesh trained Eloika (Kingda Ka-Eloise / Nanoli Stud) that was winless from eleven starts produced a stunning gallop on the straight to beat the field convincingly in the Mangalore Plate. Eloika raced in about seventh till turning for home. Once on the home stretch Dazzle Away went for it first with Tobin in chase. Eloika made rapid improvement in the centre of the turf and grabbed the lead nearing the 300 metres board and strode out well to extend the margin to over four lengths. Silver Oak rallied along the rails to get to the second position ahead of Tobin and Dazzle Away.

C.Girinath trained Happy Victory (Oath-Temple Tune / Pratap Stud) pulled off an upset win in the Hampi Plate. Jockey Arshad Alam gradually improved position on Happy Victory around the field as they rounded the final turn. On entering the straight Here’s Abbey and Happy Victory made their move together to grab the lead from Cato’s Call and then Happy Victory surged ahead with a big gallop and stretched out easily. The favourite Benedetta rallied in late but only managed to get the better of Here’s Abbey for the second place. Cato’s Call ended up fourth.

C.D.Monnappa trained Six Ace Red (Lord Admiral-Eagle Claws / Sans Craintes Stud) justified the strong favouritism in the Ooty Plate. Sent off at 10-9 ‘on’ the filly was a bit hesitant and troublesome to move into the gates. Once inside she remained calm and took a fast start as the gates opened. Leading from the word ‘go’ Six Ace Red maintained a steady leeway and kicked on in the straight to score comfortably. Country’s Gold held on in second from Country’s King and Silver Grey in a close finish. Eyez Hypnotize was withdrawn on veterinary grounds after being troublesome in the saddling area.

The 9 years old Time To Time (Juniper-Loving Girl / Krishna Stud) from trainer G.T.Surender’s stables that had displayed its fitness and form while finishing second in its last two runs came good to slam the opposition in the Spark Of Life Plate. Delta Delight went on a start to finish bid over the seven furlongs trip followed closely by Golden Steps. Time To Time raced in mid-field till turning for home. Inside the last 400 metres Time To Time made a swift move and appeared from the extreme outside even as Golden Steps began to challenge Delta Delight. Time To Time raced ahead and despite running a bit erratic drew clear to spare 3 ¼ lengths over Golden Steps. Delta Delight finished third while Catwalk Queen ended up fourth.
