AAKASH VANI STORMS HOME IN FEATURE

Anupam Sharma trained Aakash Vani (Eljohar-Carmen) scuttled to the winning post to register a win in the Raja Sitaram Bhupal Of Domakonda Samsthan Memorial Cup, the main event of Monday’s races at Hyderabad. The filly took a good jump from the gates and settled well to chase the leader Kohinoor Grace. Approaching the 400 metres board on the straight Aakash Vani forged ahead and kicked on even as the well backed favourite Legend warmed up late to beat Picture Perfect for the second place. Kohinoor Grace ended up fourth after leading till the top of the straight.

D.Netto trained Rahul’s Pet (Green Coast-Singing Speed) made a smashing return to winning ways in the Don Micheletto Plate. Red Express set off in the lead over the seven furlongs trip and Rahul’s Pet improved to sit on the haunches of the leader within the first two furlongs. On turning for home jockey Imran Chisty had no problems in taking Rahul’s Pet to the front and the grey filly drew away from the pack. Stable mate Preciosa finished on in second ahead of Ashwa Raftar and Movie Moghual.

K.Satheesh pulled off a win at nourishing odds through Fair And Square (Opportunist-Conqueror) in the lower division of the Raja Sitharam Bhupal Of Domakonda Samsthan Memorial Cup. The 7 years old bay horse was raced prominently in second or third early on and was on the haunches of Sacrifice as they turned for home. Inside the last furlong Fair And Square surged ahead to grab the lead and with about four of them swooping down from behind still managed to hold on to the lead and hit the winning post three parts of a length in front. Aston Doulton, Catherine, Perfection and Sacrifise went past the post in that order in a blanket finish.

Trainer K.S.V.Prasad Raju and jockey Suraj Narredu tasted success through Creator (Sedgefield-No Fair Peeking) in the Illustrious Reign Plate, a seven furlongs race for 3 year old maiden horses. Racing handily in fourth behind Rutilant, City Of Sails and Somerset till the top of the straight Creator surged ahead and left the rest long way behind. Somerset rallied on to take the second place while Exclusive Symbol and You Can I Can filled the frame.

Celtic Queen (Total Gallery-Celtic Rose) from Prasad Raju’s stables had earlier opened its account in the division I of the Capachino Plate. Celtic Queen followed Takisha into the straight with the favourite Takisha close behind. The three detached from the rest of them as they came into the last 400 metres. Celtic Queen inched closer towards the relentless Takisha and managed to pull it off by a neck. Thundering sneaked through between the runners and edged out Takisha for the second place.

M.Sathyanarayana trained Moondancer (Excellent Art-Pleasure Hunt) was sent off as an on-money favourite in the lower division and the youngster romped home by almost a distance. Moondancer shot to the front as the gates opened and leading all the way stretched out on the straight to extend the margin of victory. Arc Of History chased the winner all through and finished second. For the record Destined Dynamite finished third and fourth.

L.V.R.Deshmukh trained Rapidest (Ad Valorem-Rathvin Raven) whose last win was two years ago had run a suggestive third in the previous attempt and improved on that to win the Hussain Sagar Cup. Rapidest was the smartest off the gates but settled in second when Bouncer moved fast from the outermost draw to get to the front. Passing the 300 metres board Rapidest picked up momentum to forged ahead and kept going till the end. Act In Time rallied on in second while Military Cross finished third further away. Western Express ended up fourth. Malakeye Ziba was withdrawn before the race.

Jockey P.Trevor piloted N.Ravinder Singh’s Raja Hindustani (Chevalier-Radical Velocity) to a stunning win in the Twin Cities Cup. Raja Hindustani was lethargic at start and trailed the field till turning for home. Once on the straight the bay colt was pulled out by Trevor. Raja Hindustani covered ground from the extreme outside and heading past every runner in front won impressively. Darakhshan Setarah, Samba and Magnum filled the board in that order.

The 4 years old filly Supurinto (Green Coast-Golden Shower) from trainer M Srinivas Reddy’s stables scored a maiden win in the Chilli Girl Plate. Yes Baby went on a start to finish bid over the 1100 metres scurry and Supurinto raced in about fifth close to the rails. On the straight Supurinto improved gradually to move alongside Yes Baby inside the last 150 metres sped past to score a smashing win. Divine Heights and War Lady finished third and fourth respectively.
