Trainer P C Tejaswi leading Port Blair (V R Jagadeesh Up), winner of The Committee Trophy Div-1

P.C.Tejaswi trained Port Blair (Noverre-Shanley / Sohna Stud) surprised the followers of form while trouncing the opposition in the division I of the Committee Trophy, the main event of Wednesday’s races at Mysore. The 8 years old gelding raced in about seventh while Abderous went on a start to finish bid. Entering the straight Abderous was still in the lead but Port Blair quickened well to challenge and with a good spurt raced ahead and stretched clear to win by a lengthening margin. King Julien and the top weighted Class Is Class were left to fight for the minor places and they finished second and third respectively in a close finish. The Wolf after trailing the field finished on in fourth.

Trainer S.Rakesh sent out a grand treble from the stable, all of them ridden by G.Sai Vamshi. Savannah Sound (Antonius Plus-Born Free / Sohna Stud) that had won a 1200 metres sprint event four weeks ago defied the stiff penalty and used the additional furlong to its advantage in the higher class in the division II of the Committee Trophy. The 7 years old mare raced in about seventh position till entering the straight. On the straight even as the favourite Magnolia was looking to have a go Savannah Sound stormed in from the rear on the extreme outside and swamped the opposition. Magnolia settled meekly in second with Color Proof and Flying Show finishing third and fourth respectively.

The other two winners came through Siddhani and Eloika in the two divisions of the Sangam Plate. Siddhani (West Viginia-Rpyal Guest / Nakul Stud) had come down in handicap considerably and was fancied to lift the division I of the Sangam Plate, a 1200 metres race for horses rated 40-65. The filly despite carrying the top weight of 60.5 kilograms was installed as the favourite at 2-1. Skyjet and Majestic Queen disputed the lead from the beginning and brought the field into view on the straight. The latter weakened on the straight and Dare The Don was up with a challenge. Siddhani was still not in sight approaching the last 200 metres, racing in about sixth closer to the rails. Jockey Sai Vamshi pulled out Siddhani and once shown the daylight she got to a resolute gallop and with a flying finish beat them all. Skyjet stayed on in second while Azure Fire and Tremendous finished third and fourth respectively.

Eloika (Kingda Ka-Eloise / Nanoli Stud) scored an encore in the lower division. Generous Gesture shot to the front from draw one and the favourite Brown Beauty joined to dispute the lead. Diamond Attraction and Eloika were in close attendance together followed by the rest. Inside the last 400 metres Generous Gesture held forte in front and Eloika slipped in between horses to challenge from the outside. After a brief tussle Eloika travelled the better to pull it off by two lengths. Mr.Carpe rallied on in third while Diamond Attraction filled the frame. The favourite Brown Beauty that faded out and finished last was found to be trotting lame on right fore after the race.

C.D.Monnappa trained Admiral Act (Lord Admiral-Longoria / Sans Craintes Stud) that was shaping well after two runs went on a start to finish bid in the Mysore Zoo Plate and registered a fine win. The gelding shot to the front as the gates opened. Approaching the final bend Tigris who was a bit lethargic at start and Sadeek moved alongside but Admiral Act stayed stubbornly in the lead. On entering the straight Admiral Act quickened well to build up a sizable lead and kicked on till the finish. Sadeek rallied on in second followed by Tigris.

Trainer Ranjeet Shinde led in a one-two in the division I of the Formal Invitation Plate. The fancied Platinum Pearl (Lucifer Sam-Aldiora / Hazara Stud) stormed home to win the seven furlongs race. Platinum Pearl raced in about fifth all the way till turning for home and slipped in along the wide gap towards the rails and strode clear to win by a big margin under S.Manohar who had replaced an indisposed S.S.Baria. Skyfullofstars and Country’s Power went past the winning post locked together to take the second and third places respectively. Starstruck after running prominently finished fourth.

S.M.Johnson trained Lovely Mickmel (Royal Gladiator-Dam I’m Gorgeous / Pratap Stud) that had found one better in the last two runs made amends to open its account in the lower division. The filly showed plenty of speed as the gates opened and shot to the lead from an inward draw. The on-money favourite Jolfa chased in second followed by the rest. Inside the last 300 metres Lovely Mickmel continued to dominate the proceedings and extended well to increase the margin to 6 ½ lengths. Jolfa was under pressure when asked for an effort and stayed on in second. Al Dorado and Point finished third and fourth respectively.

The 6 years old mare Kodals Princess (Royal Gladiator-Amber Eyes / Pratap Stud) trained by Pratap Kamath shed her maiden status in the Ajantha Plate. The ‘Princess’ was taken to the front at start by apprentice Arman Ali Jafri and the mare was unchallenged till entering the straight. Samay Balwan was up with a challenge on the straight but just couldn’t head past and began to weaken passing the distance post. Kodals Princess kicked on and stayed clear by three parts of a length from Infinithoughts. Mr.Chang warmed up late and finished on in third ahead of Samay Balwan.

Feroz M Khan trained Country’s Angel (Roi Maudit-Pretty Fit / Country Stud) carried the top weight of 62 kilograms to a facile maiden win in the Gerusoppa Plate. After a smart jump out from the gates Country’s Angel raced a handy third early on and moved up to be on the haunches of the leader Sheer Luck approaching the final turn. The filly took over the running on top of the straight and kicked on to win by a good margin. In a close finish for the minor places Sheer Luck held on in second from Order Order, Brown Fairy and Deliberation.
