Trainer S.Rakesh had yet another successful day on Thursday, pulling off a hat-trick of wins including that of Ayra’s Delight in the feature. Ayra’s Delight (Top Class-Acquisition / Mukteshwar Stud) sprang a surprise in the division I of the M. Govindappa Memorial Trophy. Ayahuasca went on a start to finish bid and Ayra’s Delight after fighting for the head for a while settled down to chase in second. After passing the 300 metres board Ayra’s Delight got stronger from behind with G.Sai Vamshi riding out and pulled away with a sustained gallop. Country’s Angel and Dhanyavaad covered up ground towards the finish to finish second and third respectively beating Ayahuasca in a close finish. 

Chandini and Siddhani were the other two victors from the stable. Chandini (Crown Jewel-Princess Chand / Noble Stud) made a come-back to form to strike it rich at 10-1 in the Tuticorin Plate. The usually troublesome starter trailed the field till the last 500 metres and was almost six lengths away from the leader Happy Victory. On entering the straight Gusty Wind was the first one to take the initiative. Storming Home, Rustic Sunrise also moved up to be in contention. Chandini in the meanwhile got a wide opening along the rails and slipped in quickly through the gap and shot ahead with 100 metres left from home. Storming Home was in hard chase only to finish second three parts of a length away. Gusty Wind and Archimedes finished third and fourth respectively. Absolute Brave was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. 

Jockey G.Sai Vamshi got his double through Siddhani (West Verginia-Royal Guest / Nakul Stud) in the division I of the Crystal Man Plate. With Pacquiao withdrawn on veterinary grounds Siddhani, a winner in its last run was supported well in the betting among the eight runners for the sprint. Arrive and Kazuri raced for the lead right from the start and came in almost together into the straight with Siddhani in close attendance. Passing the 300 metres Siddhani was pulled out by Sai Vamshi and the chestnut mare raised a fluent gallop to head past the duo and score an encore. Arrive held on in second from Kazuri. Abderus finished fourth. 

Feroz M Khan trained Country’s Courage (Roi Maudit-Fabulous Gal / Country Stud) completed a hat-trick of wins in the lower division of the Crystal Man Plate. The top two market fancies Flying Show and Country’s Courage raced together behind the pair of Amazing Connection and Reckless. The leading pair drifted wide near the 800 metres and the fancied pair found themselves in front. The two of them fought right through the straight and then Country’s Courage surged ahead under the strong riding of Y.S.Srinath. Eloika rallied along the rails and finished a close third. Lucky Pineapple finished fourth. 

Feroz Khan had earlier scored through Country’s Tigress (Roi Maudit-Yorkshire / Country Stud) in the lower division of the lower division of the M.Govindappa Memorial Trophy. Racing a handy fourth or fifth till turning for home Country’s Tigress found the gap between horses on top of the straight and slipped in to grab the lead. In the last 100 metres One Step Ahead started to gain ground from the rear but Country’s Tigress carried on well to spare a little over a length at the finish. Point and Sancy filled the frame in that order. 

Trainer C.V.G.K.Kishore who resumed the duties this week after his return from the US had a winner through Tremendous (Sedgefield-Delectable / Jai Govind Stud) in the Kodachadri Plate. Aliboxer was speedy right from the start and led the field. Inside the last furlong Aliboxer was still in the lead when Tremendous came flying from the rear flashed ahead. Haloween’s Way came in late to snatch the second place from Stellenbosh and Aliboxer. 

Golden Steps (Don Micheletto-Miraflores / Nakul Stud) was knocking at the door in the last few runs and finally came good in the Ujre Plate. Ephialties set off on a start to finish bid and Golden Steps was racing in fifth as they turned for home. Inside the last 300 metres Golden Steps improved along the rails and getting stronger under apprentice Shivpoojan Yadav surged ahead and strode clear. The top weighted Amazing garnering the maximum support in the betting could only beat Ephialties for the second place. Ruthba finished on in fourth.

Pratap Kamath trained Kodals Princess (Royal Gladiator-Amber Eyes / Pratap Stud) that had scored a maiden win in its last outing over seven furlongs repeated that performance over the extended trip in the Brave Dancer Plate. Jumping out smartly from an outward draw had the speed to get to the front. The mare came in to the straight with a lead of two lengths and kicked on gamely, thwarting the late bid of Micron Yaacow. Sazae San rallied on in third while Infinithoughts ended up fourth.
