R.H.Sequeira trained Aika Aika Aika (Win Legend-Masquenada / Dashmesh Stud), winner of the South India 1000 Guineas in the Steward’s room won the division I of the Delhi Race Club Trophy, a seven furlongs handicap race for horses rated 66 to 90 that featured Monday’s card of nine races at Hyderabad. Jockey P.Trevor who had a profitable day piloting four winners gave the Even money favourite a confident ride. Aakash Vani and Flower Roll Up called the shots till the top of the straight with Aika Aika Aika racing in about sixth. Inside the last 300 metres Sea Castle was the first to take the initiative and shot to the front. Trevor brought Aika Aika Aika from the outside and the filly responded readily to overhaul the leader and win the event by a comfortable margin. Ashwa Raftar finished third ahead of Flower Roll Up.

The other winners of Trevor were Tootsie Roll, Dhool Ka Phool and Seven Colours. Tootsie Roll (Chinese Whisper-Confluence) from the stables of L.D’Silva earned a hard fought win in the supporting event of the day, the Bhagyanagar Novice Handicap Million. With Clarisa in the lead Tootsie Roll improved gradually to be in chase on entering the straight. Inside the last furlong Tootsie Roll began to get stronger from the outside but Clarisa with Beuzelin astride fought back from the inside and the two headed past the winning post together. Tootsie Roll had managed to edge out Clarisa by a short-head. Meritocracy who had two wins from as many starts and looking for a hat-trick made a bid but the top weight of 62 kilograms on its back did have a bearing and the filly finished third. 

Anupam Sharma trained 5 years old mare Dhool Ka Phool (Royal Gladiator-Mount Rose) scored an encore in amazing style in the Taramati Cup. Dhool Ka Phool braced the rear in about eighth as they turned for home. Jem Star slipped in to take the running from Buckshee on straightening up and looked good passing the distance post. Dhool Ka Phool was pulled out by Trevor to make a bid from the wide outside and the mare produced a stunning gallop to come charging down the stretch and pull it offfrom Jem Star. Man Of The Series and Sea Change finished third and fourth respectively in a close finish.

Trevor guided Anupam’s Seven Colours (Hymn-Great Colours) to victory in the Stallion Plate. Jumping out well from the innermost draw Seven Colours was held close to the rails even as four to five horses rushed to the front. As Trevor waited patiently along the rails the gap between horses opened up in front and Seven Colours was quick to shoot to the lead. Negress Pearl came flying from behind but Seven Colours held on by a head at the wire. Mirfield and Big Flash filled the frame in the same picture.

Anupam had earlier scored through Mangalyaan (Ravel-Dandiya) in the lower division of the Delhi Race Club Trophy to take his tally up by three points. Mid-way up the straight the field was spread out across the track as the race got to a boil. Mangalyaan and Batur came out of the pack together and fought the last 200 metres with the latter ridden by apprentice B.R.Kumar holding on by a head despite the best efforts of Imran Chisty on Batur. O Ms Akhila finished on in third ahead of Vallee Secrete.

S.S.Faisal Hassan trained Ta Ta (Rebuttal-Elzain / Hazara Stud) earned its second straight win in the Caribbean Plate. Approaching the last 250 metres Prep One marched ahead to take up the running. Ta Ta started to move up to chase and with jockey Akshay Kumar riding out vigorously Ta Ta picked up momentum and collared Prep One in the shadow of the winning post. Whisper finished a faraway third.

Akshay Kumar had earlier scored on L.V.R.Deshmukh’s youngster Money Time (Win Legend-Terra Nova) in the division I of the Wilkinson Plate. Takisha grabbed the lead quickly from the outermost draw as the gates opened andMoney Time settled nicely in chase. Takisha held forte till past the distance marker and surrendered the lead to the relentless riding of Akshay Kumar on Money Time. As Money Time surged clear of Takisha, Bayrd came flying with a late dash and failed by a neck at the finish.

Debutante Mahateji (Multidimensional-Blue Sky) from trainer M.Srinivas Reddy’s stables recorded a fine win under Imran Chisty in the lower division. Turning for home Mahateji was racing third behind Arc Of History and Golden Aliza. Inside the last furlong Chisty was in full swing to get Mahateji to raise a gallop and the filly responded with a good turn of foot to down Arc Of History by a length. Desert Moon and Dean’s Gal finished third and fourth respectively.

R.H.Sequeira trained Ambitious Approach (Mathematecian-Dance N Celebrate) scored a runaway victory in the opener of the day, the Blue Stratos Plate. Having won its earlier start the chestnut gelding was sent off at an unbackable price for the seven furlongs race. Chasing Gorgeous Lady till the top of the straight Ambitious Approach took over the running smoothly and cruised to a lengthening victory. Raja Hindustani finished third.
