AL SADR WINS J.S.DHARIWAL MEMORIAL CUP

Anupam Sharma trained Al Sadr (Pinson-Fascinating Lady) got there on time to beat Doroteo in the race held in memory of trainer J.S.Dhariwal on Sunday at Hyderabad. The chestnut colt, a winner of its last start was travelling sixth as they turned for home in the 2400 metres race. Doroteo after reducing the long lead of Pentagon rushed to the front as they straightened up on the home stretch. Al Sadr started to work its way from the outside and joined Doroteo with 300 metres left from home. The two fought every inch of ground from thereon and Al Sadr prevailed by a neck at the finish. Ashwa Ashoka and Golden Arrow finished third and fourth respectively.

L.D’Silva trained Magna Carta (Chevalier-Associate) that had finished on board in the last five starts this season came good to lift the Raja Narasimha Rao memorial Cup. Apprentice A.A.Vikrant took Magna Carta straight to the lead as the field was dispatched. The bay colt sat back in second when Prospero headed past between 1000 and 800 metres and regained the lead approaching the final bend. On the straight Magna Carta kept kicking on till the finish. Kalinda held on to the second place from Scooby Dooby Doo. Citi Colors ended up fourth.

Prince Caspian (Excellent Art-Entendu) sporting the ‘Goldie Brown’ silks from K.Satheesh’s yard won the Sea Master Plate, a seven furlongs race for 3 years old. After a smart jump out Prince Caspian sat to chase Lost And Found who went on a start to finish bid. Passing the 400 metres board on the straight Prince Caspian was pushed by N.S.Rathore to get to the lead. Lady In Lace began to challenge but Prince Caspian kicked on easily till the finish. Treasure Striker finished third and Creator fourth.

Louis Beuzelin rode D.Netto trained on-money favourite Preciosa (Green Coast-Coco Chanel) to an easy win in the Sling Shot Plate, the opener of the day. Numinous went on a start to finish bid and Preciosa settled in third or fourth in the initial stages. Inside the last 300 metres Preciosa got stronger from behind and after forging ahead went clear to the winning post. Without Makeup rallied on in second followed by Ashwa Raftar and City Of Dreams.

Fancied youngsters obliged in both the divisions of the scurry for 3 years old maiden horses, the Navigator Plate. In the higher division debutante Champion Bull (Burden Of Proof-Tetisheri) from trainer M.Srinivas Reddy’s stables registered an impressive victory. Settling to track the leader Plane Jane in the early stages Champion Bull shot to the front mid-way up the straight and stretched clear. Sweet Pistol, Seven Eleven and Marina Del Rey filled the frame in that order.

In the lower division L.D’Silva’s filly (Asteria (Green Coast-Alero) that had found one better in the last two runs scored a runaway victory. Asteria shot to the front from the innermost draw and raced close to the rails. Platinum Claasz raced in close attendance from the outside. Once on the straight Asteria picked up momentum and left the rest of the field cold behind.Platinum Claasz stayed on in second followed by Brookwood and Yagna. Golden Aliza was withdrawn before the race.

N.Ravinder Singh trained Shandaar (Lord Admiral-Duchess Of York) that was winless in a dozen starts finally came good under Imran Chisty to lift the Asifabad Plate. Racing a handy fourth till the final bend Shandaar moved quickly behind Dawning Hope who had surged ahead to show up first on the straight. Shandaar started to bridge the gap and fighting out the last 150 metres with Dawning Hope, forged ahead by half a length in the final few strides. Touch Of Gold and Golden Joy finished third and fourth respectively.

Trainer K.Satheesh earned his double through Magical Skill (Ontario-Lenwade) in the division I of the Mahbubabad Plate. Born To Do It went on a start to finish bid and brought the field into view on the straight. Magical Skill travelling in about sixth turning for home was brought from the extreme outside by apprentice C.P.Bopanna. The grey filly produced a scintillating gallop to swoop on the runners in front and hit the winning post to score an encore by a comfortable margin. Born To Do It held on in second from Ikigai and King David in a close finish.     

In the lower division D.Netto’s Pixie Girl (Green Coast-Premier Thrill) that was struggling with form after a win on debut went on a start to finish bid and held on by a slender margin from Supurinto. Pixie Girl had established a lead of over three lengths coming into the final furlong. Supurinto began to get stronger and with big strides diminished the margin at a fast pace but fell short by a shorthead at the wire. Wild Heart and Prime Time finished third and fourth respectively.
