Prime Fancy Oracle (Phoenix Tower –age of Magic, Manjri Stud) was under threat after Wise Child arrived to smother his start to finish bid, but Oracle showed resolve in fighting back and swing it back in his favour at the business end.  Taking off at a good clip, Nazak Chenoy trained Oracle led them into the straight and had to sustain his bid all the way home. Juggernaut looked a possible threat only briefly, while Wise Child stuck alongside Oracle as they approached the distance post. Wise Child even headed Oracle entering into the final furlong and they battled stride for stride all the way to the winning post. Jockey CS Jodha astride Oracle pulled back the advantage a stride from the winning post and prevailed in a thrilling finish sparing a neck at the wire.   

Mathaiyus (Multidimensional – Yana, Usha Stud) duly compiled his fourth straight victory and won untroubled. Settled in second behind Mountbatten until into the straight, Mathaiyus took charge soon after and then stretched out majestically to win with authority. Jockey P Trevor only had to guide the Pesi Shroff ward and the good looking gelding galloped away to win easing up. Mekong Delta tried hard to offer a fight, but could not make any impact on the on-money favourite.

Star of Harmony (Multidimensional – Veena’s Pet, Usha Stud) too had it easy and the Malesh Narredu trained filly dictated her own terms right from the start. Trevor eased her into a fine rhythm early on as she led her two rivals (Jager Bomb was withdrawn at the gates). Entering the straight, Star of Harmony tended to shift out, but Trevor managed to check her drift to an extent and ensured that the filly held her own to score with a good margin. Flying Dragon was tamed midway in the straight, while Glorious Opinion was never in the hunt.

Lady Sergeant (Phoenix Tower – Autocop, Manjri Stud) improved on her last outing second nd galloped to her maiden win warding off Ice Dancer. Trevor may perhaps rue his choice of passage in the race as he was caught undecided at least once on which way to go, a rare flaw from the champion rider.

SS Shah’s Lady Sergeant was down to business from the outset and was off at a good clip. Fair Warning, Nextstar Ice Dancer and Manzanita were not too far away as they turned for home. Lady Sergeant, with CS Jodha up, got going in the straight with Fair Warning close behind, but not really posing a threat. Trevor was behind these two and on hindsight, had he taken the outer route, he may have saved a crucial second or two. He had to wait a stride and then he swung inwards, by then Lady Sergeant, who was showing no signs of relenting, gained the upper hand with not much distance to travel. Ice Dancer came with a fast gallop and ended close alongside the winner.  Fair Warning ended a decent third ahead of Manzanita.

Undisputed (Varenar – Gold Bar, Equus Stud) timed his run to a nicety and his waiting game paid rich dividends against speedy rivals such as Minstrel Heights and Nascar.  Minstrel Heights shot ahead past Nascar soon on start and led until into the straight. Nascar gained ground to surge ahead with Gangnam Style lurking around with them. Nascar had just taken charge when Undisputed arrived with Trevor in the saddle to storm in at the finish working up good speed towards the end to win by just over a length.

Master of Trinity (Varenar – Sayuri, Equus Stud) produced a fine start-to-finish performance and pulled off a coup for his connections. With solid support in the ring, Neeraj Rawal had little difficulty in urging the Altamash Ahmed ward into the lead from the inner most draw and with that kind of a start, half the battle was won.

Neeraj kept the gelding going at a brisk pace and once they entered the homestretch, Master of Trinity gained momentum to unleash fiery pace, galloping in full flow and away from the rest. Dancing Prince was in futile chase and although he did not let the winner get too far ahead, he himself never looked like posing any danger to Master of Trinity. Rain Dance improved positions and did well to finish in the money.

Ainra (Placerville – Refresh, Poonawalla Astonish Farm) showed the spark of her first season, several monsoons ago. The MK Jadhav camp however, was highly confident and the seven-year-old mare was backed heavily in the ring. With Sandesh, its usually safe and he rode out astutely when challenged by another fancied old-timer Winds of Change. The two fought on gallantly showing lot of vigour till the end, showing a trick or two to their younger opponents. Ainra managed to dig deeper and cross the line sparing a narrow half-length to Winds of Change. Silver River finished on to save place money.

For the professionals, jockey P Trevor guided home three winners and CS Jodha claimed two.
