Dr. MAM Ramaswamy's Stable Jockey B. Prakash was found guilty of injudicious handling of his mount Mountain Bear and has been handed a 4 day suspension w.e.f. Dec 17, 2007 to Jan 3, 2008 by the Stewards of the RWITC Ltd. Prakash would also have to pay a fine of Rs 20,000. It may be recalled that Dr. Ramaswamy owned Mountain Bear who was the piping hot favourite, ended a poor fourth in a small field of 5 runners on Super Sunday - 25th Nov, 2007. Both the rider Prakash and trainer Karthik were issued a 'show cause' into the poor running of Mountian Bear. The stewards did not find the explanation provided by Prakash satisfactory and after due diligence found his riding in the race injudicious. Consequently, the above punitive action was taken. Karthik was however, let off following the inquiry. Trainer Ganapathy, also from the same camp, was asked to appear before the Stewards for his version into the causes with regard to the poor performances of his wards Secret Memory, Haunting Memory and Southern Empire on the same day. Ganapathy's observation that the said horses were administered a prescribed vaccine as per the norms, since they were Dubai bound, may have affected their performance was noted. The Stewards, after deliberations, cautioned the trainer and let him off without any punitive action.
