Feroz M Khan trained Brown Beauty (Oath-Royal Gesture / Pratap Stud) turned out in full fitness to beat the field in the division I of the Nairn Trophy, the feature of Wednesday’s races at Mysore. The filly had disappointed her followers’ last time out in winter when she finished last as a favourite and was observed to have returned lame in the race. Loaded into the widest draw among the eleven runners for the six furlongs sprint, Brown Beauty took a smart jump and was quickly up with the leader Star Atrium. The two came in together on the straight and as a duel started the top weighted Nikka began to move up strongly from the outside but went wide and lost all her chances. Brown Beauty strode out well to hit the winning post first while Nikka ended up as the runner-up on the stand side. Dare The Don Beat Star Atrium for the third place. 

Poet’s pursuit of getting a hat-trick was halted by M.Bobby’s Flying Show (Varenar-Queen Victoria / Equus Stud) in the Nagamangala Plate. Amazing Connection set the ball rolling and showed up first on the straight. Poet was on its haunches on top of the straight and grabbed the lead quickly. Flying Show who was always at the back of Poet till approaching the bend found a big opening towards the rails and went for it. Flying Show surged ahead approaching the last 300 metres but suddenly started to veer out and crossed the path of Poet after taking the lead. The rider of Poet raised an objection against the winner for interference but the Stewards finding no substance in it decided to overrule it. Phelps rallied on to take the third place ahead of Amazing Connection. 

S.M.Johnson trained Veni Vedi Vici (Moon Prospect-Fathing / Doaba Stud) stormed home to win the Kolar Plate. The grey gelding had won last a little over a year ago over five furlongs and he won a seven furlongs race for the first time. Racing in about fourth or fifth till the top of the straight Veni Vedi Vici made a quick move to get into striking position and shot ahead as they approached the final furlong. Scipio chased the winner thereon to be second, a length behind the winner while Campeon and Markus Sittikus filled the frame in that order. 

The on-money favourite Fjord (Phoenix Tower-Alcmene / Manjri Stud) justified the short price in the lower division of the Nairn Trophy. The filly was not the smartest off the gates but showed plenty of speed to race to the front. Fjord came into the straight with a handy lead and kicked on even as the rider P.P.Dhebe balanced himself on the saddle that had loosened and got shifted as they passed the winning post. Jersey Bride chased Fjord all the way but lost the second place to Chief’s Arrow close to the winning post. Six Ace Red ended up fourth. 

The 7 years old Ephialties (Glory Of Dancer-Brief Adventure / Nanoli Stud) had a walk in the park in the Prince Regent Plate. Sent off as the favourite, Ephialties set off in the lead right from the start and came into the straight with two lengths lead. Extending the lead Ephialties strode clear and the jockey looked back repeatedly in the final furlong for any threat from behind. Alecia rallied on in second followed by Sancy and Starstruck. Gran Turismo was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.  

Saturn (Arabian Gulf-Stunning Star/ Manjri Stud) on debut showed plenty of class while dictating the terms in the Mysore Plate. Power Of God, another debutant was sent off as the prime favourite for the sprint with Saturn being the second in demand. Saturn moved around the field to get to the front early and settled nicely to lead. Amaris raced second with Power Of God looking relaxed in third. On entering the straight Saturn continued to kick on easily with the rider Dhebe just using his hands and heels. Amaris chased the winner all through to finish second while Silvery Grey got to the third spot. Power Of God was beaten fair and square into fourth. 

M.Bobby trained Catwalk Queen Burden Of Proof-Cats Affair / Kunigal Stud) who had last won a race over a year and a half ago galloped well to lift the H.Krishna Naik Memorial Plate. The favourite Young Gallant set off on a start to finish bid with Go Man Go matching strides. Catwalk Queen raced a handy third close behind. With 300 metres left on the straight Catwalk Queen came up strongly from the outside and swept past to get to the post easily. As Always came up from behind to beat Young Gallant for the second place. Ice Weapon filled the frame. 

S.Rakesh trained I Do It For U (Sharp Attack-Amazon Sky / Gee Stud) that had not touched the board in all its five starts sprang a surprise to open its account in the Balamuri Plate. As they showed up on the home stretch Golden Cruise was joined by Iroko. The favourite Ice Sprint made a brief bid but could not stay with the pace. I Do It For U started to get closer from the wide outside and with a strong gallop sped past to score by a length. Iroko and Golden Cruise went past together to finish second and third respectively. Ice Sprint finished fourth.
