By Ikram Khan | 01 Jul 2017 | BANGALORE

Mr Sarosh Modi & trainer P Shroff leading Anacapri (Suraj Narredu Up), winner of The Juvenile Sprinters' Million (Gr.3)

A facile last start winner Anacapri from the stables of champion trainer Pesi Shroff   proved too good in the plum event the Juvenile Sprinters` Million. Up against mediocre opposition Anacapri took command the moment the seven runners came under the starter’s flag and was never headed cruising home in a smart time of 1:11.99 seconds. Torsoro gained the runner-up berth ahead of  Occitan.

On form Irfan Ghatala-trained Salazaar looked outstanding in the Chaitanya Chakram Trophy run over a mile. The South India Derby winner looked a picture at the parade ring and Trevor Patel had little difficulty guiding him home ahead of Let The Lion Roar who despite losing ground at the start, finished second ahead of  Royal Sceptre while Magistero went out of gas at the top of the straight.

Jockey Ashad Asbar who was lucky to get away for his lack of enterprise on High Admiral  in his last effort  took no chances this time out, packing punch on the Imtiaz Khan to justify  favouritism in the Bhishma Plate. Last start winner Regency Girl, who in her effort to record an encore produced her best and gallantly did battle with the favourite  found High Admiral too hot to handle at end. Find was seen finishing on purposefully at end to take the third spot.

Anupam Sharma-trained Ashwa Bahula was the medium of a good gamble in  the  Red Divine Plate. The well prepared filly who had the benefit of a run was fancied strongly by the insiders and the right connections and she readily justified their confidence making every post  a winning one. The favourite Cassical Dancer raced in patches and finished a poor fourth. Delhi-based pro Dhanu Singh did extremely well to push Ashwa Bahula ahead from a wide outside draw  and after gaining the pole position he kept going to the delight of the Hyderabad camp.

The one winner who looked best in the paddock was the Imtiaz Khan schooled Justice Angel. She was strongly fancied to score in the R S Nagendra Kumar Memorial Trophy and she did just that in style to the delight of the Rai brothers, Muthappa and Chandrashekar Rai who recorded a popular double. Justice Angel who appears to have now overcome her medical issues now looks good and it will pay to follow her in her next two starts. A Hearttoremember nosed out Interesting to gain the runner-up berth.

Knocking at the door, Ganapathy- trained Flirting Eyes finally entered the winners’ circle winning the Ich Dien Plate run over a distance of nine furlongs . The public choice stole a march at the distance post and then put the issue beyond doubt in the final furlong.

Md Khan- trained Magnificent Mary brought off the biggest upset of the day in the  Iflookscouldkill Plate. Extemelydangerous led from the start and was under pressure to hold on the moment Prashanth Dhebe setalight Magnificent Mary and the rankoutsider sped past Extremelydangerous. The favourite After Hours finished a tame third.
