Mr Vispi R Patel, Mrs K N Dhunjibhoy & Trainer S S Attaollahi leading Serjeant At Arms (A Sandesh Up), winner of The B.T.C. Anniversary Cup (Gr.2)

The Big Boss of Bengaluru, Serjeant At Arms (Ikhtyar(IRE) - Rahy's Serenade(USA) maintained his winning streak at his parent-centre, while registering a hat-trick this summer season and the top gun is set to pick up one more before he wears the Horse of the season crown.

Competing in the BTC Anniversary Cup, the Sulaiman Attaollahi ward had no opposition worthy of mention and the public rage again justified his top ranking romping home in a record time of 1:23.23 seconds, bettering Bold Command’s  1:23.78 record effort over a seven furlongs trip in winter. Bold Command who was also in the fray for the plum on the eve of the Kingfisher Ultra Derby finished third behind the Kolkata challenger Multitude piloted by Neeraj Rawal.

The principal added attraction, the K N Guruswamy Memorial Cup was claimed by the lesser fancied Arvak (Phoenix Tower(Usa) - Little Treasure) who snuffed out the challenge of the favourite Sporting Pleasure in the final furlong. The winner after streaking ahead at the top of the straight looked set to score before Trevor astride the winner packed punch on the Pradeep Annaiah ward  and Arvak responding gamely to the master’s call put the issue beyond doubt in the final furlong. Hartnell  finished a creditable third ahead of Amazing Redd while the Neil Darashah-trained Namid appears to have gone of the boil.

The Padmanabhan schooled Lady Barrington was fancied most in the Nawab Arshad Ali Khan Memorial Cup, but it was the other lady in the field who gained the day, the Rajesh Narredu-trained Lady In Lace (Chinese Whisper - Sea Spray / Tohna Stud) making it a no contest approaching the distance post. The Kolkata hopeful Occitan gained the runner-up berth in a close call from Kambaku while Lady Barrington failed to make the frame.

The Arjun Manglorkar schooled Silver Legend (Win Legend - Hauhaiwunai / Dashmesh Stud) came up tops in the R M Puttanna Memorial Trophy. Leading pro s John confidently piloted the winner who appears to have come into his own and on the strength of this performance is set to provide an encore. The second in demand at the betting ring, Carolina finished second ahead of the public choice Buscadero while Courtship took the fourth spot.

Earlier, John and Arjun struck with the half-money favourite Fair Warning (Win Legend - Annakita / Dashmesh Stud) who proved too good for his seven rivals in the upper division of the Adler Trophy run over a sprint. The lower division of the event too produced a runaway winner, the four to one shot Duke Of Norfolk making every post a winning one in the hands of Anjar Alam. Young Azhar Ali who proudly led in Duke Of Norfolk shared the  professional honours with John and Arjun, leading in the 20 to one shot Brave Girl who recorded her second straight victory this season, winning the Indian Pattern Committee Cup in the hands of Mudassar.

The M K Jadhav-trained Goshawk was strongly fancied in the opening event, the Mystical Million run over a mile but all that the Mumbai hopeful did was throw the big money bags down the drain, finishing a poor fourth. The five to one shot Castanea (Western Aristocrat - Payola / Kunigal Stud) from Prasanna Kumar’s yard, who was quietly fancied by the insiders and the right connections gained the day from Automatic. The runner-up is in good heart and it will pay to follow him when next saddled.
