Leading pro Srinath and trainer Gregory Sandhu returned home satisfied after recording a good double while Arvind Ganapathy and  top gun Trevor Patel made a disappointed exit, three seconds including losing one by the shortest of margins.

Srinath first struck through Aeisir in the Angel Dust Trophy. The winner tracked the lesser fancied Arjun Manglorkar ward Standout for most part of the six furlongs trip before Srinath packed punch in the final furlong to snuff out the challenge of the leader and retire home a convincing winner. Cantabria from Irfan Ghatala’s yard, who was fancied most lacked the speed to match strides with the first two and finished a tame third while the Padmanabhan schooled Majuro after giving the handlers a tough time at the gates came home fourth.

Back on the four to one shot Idealist who had impressed most while chalking out a facile win in his last essay, the top pro needed to pull out all stops to peg back Firing Line who had stolen a march at the distance post. Regency Girl managed to hold onto the third spot ahead of Kasauli. The favourite Girl With Pearl raced in patches and was seen finishing on well after Idealist had helped Srinath and Sandhu record a fine double.

Trevor astride the Arvind Ganapathy schooled Star Line lost out on the post in the lower division of the Astronomic Plate. After assuming command when the race came on a boil,  Star Line failed to gain the verdict in her favour, the public choice Raw Gold from Inayathullah’s yard gaining the day in the hands of T S Jodha. Love Is Life did well to take the third spot and is one for the notebook.

Back guiding the fortunes of smart last start winner Krieger in the Karnataka Sub-Area Cup run over a sprint, Trevor pushed the public choice who was advantageously placed in at the scales ahead at the all-important end to only see the Arjun ward storming through in the hands of Anthony Raj to romp home in emphatic fashion. Super Success came home third ahead of Champagne.

Finally in the concluding event, the Manjri Stud Plate, the trainer and jockey hoped that it will prove third time lucky but it was not to be, the Samar Singh ward Queenofgoodtimes making every post a winning one in the hands of Irvan Singh. Sterling Role finished second ahead of Interesting while Black Swan after raising hopes at the top of the straight ran out of gas and had to rest content with the fourth spot.

Trevor earlier scored on the Dominic-trained Bora Bora who recorded her second straight success in the upper division of the Alekona Plate making every post a winning one. Rising Brave impressed most while finishing a game second and it will not be long before he earns his cornbill.

The lower division of the event was claimed by the ten to one shot Breaking Away piloted by D S Deora. The winner streaked ahead at a crucial juncture and then gamely thwarted the belated effort of the favourite Kanthaka.
